Al-Hilal will face Al Nassr in the King’s Cup 2024 final

Under the auspices of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, the King’s Cup, also known as The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is the elimination cup tournament for football in Saudi Arabia.

The competition began in 1957 and continued until 1990. Relaunched in 2007 under the new name King’s Cup of Champions, it was limited to the top six Professional League finishers in addition to the Federation Cup and Crown Prince Cup winners. The competition was renamed as King’s Cup in 2014, and the previous format was reinstated, taking it back to its historical roots. 153 clubs have participated in the competition.

With 19 league titles under their belt, Al Hilal are the most famous Saudi team in terms of championships, and this title represents the second “Golden League” in their remarkable history.

This season, Al Hilal won the Saudi Professional Football League without losing a game—a feat known as the “Golden League”.

The Blues were unbeaten in all 34 of the competition’s games, taking home 31 victories and only three draws against Al Fayha, Damac, and Al Nassr. They were a formidable and noteworthy presence the entire season.

With 17 teams from all around Saudi Arabia, representing both the north and the south, Al Hilal dominated every game it played and beat every other club in the league. Al Hilal kept setting records during its historic season; most recently, it broke the 100-goal mark in the 34 league games it played.

The offensive unit of Al Hilal scored 101 goals in all, a record that has never been surpassed in the Saudi league’s existence. This season, the team also set a record with 24 straight victories.

The league’s top scorers for Al Hilal, who had 16 players contribute, were Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who scored 28 goals. Malcolm, a player from Brazil, scored 15, Salem Al-Dawsari scored 14, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored 11, and Michael and Saleh Al-Shehri, two attackers, each scored five goals.
