The Brazilian scored the second for Real Madrid to beat Dortmund 0-2 in 2023-24 Champions League final.

In the Champions League, Vinicius Jr. has equalled a record set by Lionel Messi, solidifying his status as one of the game’s greatest players.

In Madrid’s 0-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League final, the Brazilian forward netted the second goal, all but guaranteeing Los Blancos’ 15th tournament victory.

In the last few seasons, Vinicius has elevated himself to the position of crucial players for Real Madrid in the Champions League and his goal perfectly summed up his ascent to the top of the football world. Due to his achievements, he now ranks among the top players in the Champions League.

Vinicius increased his tally of goals scored in the competition’s knockout rounds to 11 with his strike in Saturday’s final.

According to Opta, Vinicius has equalled Lionel Messi’s milestone, for the most number of goals and assists in the Champions League knockout rounds by any player before reaching 24, with his 22 goals and 11 assists for Real Madrid.

Vinicius has placed himself in the running for the Ballon d’Or after adding another title to his collection. The world’s best player title will probably end up in the hands of a first-time winner, if Vinicius steals the Copa America crown away from Messi.

Vinicius will focus on playing for Brazil, and avenging the defeat in the final of the 2021 Copa America. None would be able to contest his selection for the Ballon d’Or if he plays a pivotal part at the 2024 Copa America for his nation.

In the meanwhile, figures will support his candidature for the Ballon d’Or in 2024. Along with England star Jude Bellingham, the player Brazil is one of the favourites to win the prize.
