Wales announce squad for June international break; Ben Davies & Brennan Johnson included
Rob Page has named a 25-man squad including former Chelsea man Ethan Ampadu
The Wales national football team have revealed a 25-man squad for the upcoming two friendlies in June. Head coach Rob Page who has been at the helm since June 2022 was the decision maker.
Wales fans will be a bit sad as their nation missed out on the qualification to play the Euro 2024. They were involved in Group D of the UEFA European Championship Qualifiers. After playing the eight group fixtures, Rob Page’s men were left in the third spot.
This meant they missed out on automatic qualification and had to go through playoffs. After an impressive 4-1 win over Finland, Poland’s national football team stood in their way to play the Euro 2024 in Germany.
The Dragons did everything possible even pushing the game to extra time. After a 0-0 result, the match was forced into a penalty shootout. Poland were through from there with a 5-4 result in the shootouts.
Now we will see Wales play two friendlies in June. The first one will be against Gibraltar and the final one against Slovakia.
In the 25-man squad selected by Page, Danny Ward of Leicester City is on the goalkeeper list. Ben Davies of Tottenham Hotspur brings a lot of experience to defence. Former Chelsea player Ethan Ampadu is among the midfield players. The forward line has the pacy Daniel James and Brennan Johnson.
