Alexander Isak is on the transfer radar of the Gunners

There could be good news for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer. The Gunners are in the hunt for a striker and might land one of their long-term targets.

According to reports, Newcastle United might be forced to sell their Swedish striker Alexander Isak to comply with the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. They require a big sale to remain in the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

According to The Express, Isak has emerged as a target, with Newcastle potentially being forced to sell one of their key players this summer to comply with the financial regulations in the Premier League.

The report claims that Arsenal are ‘long-term admirers of Isak’ and are considering making a move for him during the summer transfer market.

Spanish publication Nacional claims that Arteta wants to make Isak his ‘first star reinforcement’ of the summer transfer window as he looks to appease his ‘need to reinforce the attack’.

Manchester United are also said to be keeping a close eye on Isak’s situation, although the Red Devils would likely have to secure Champions League football for next season to stand a chance of signing him.

A groin injury has troubled the Newcastle forward this season. Isak has still shown his quality and netted 16 goals in 30 appearances.

The Sweden international started his professional career with AIK Fotboll before moving to Borussia Dortmund, but he failed to make his mark in Germany and departed after just one goal in 13 appearances.

Alexander Isak moved to Real Sociedad in 2019, and he scored 44 goals and registered eight assists in 132 appearances for the Basque outfit before completing a switch to Newcastle in August 2022.

The 24-year-old has impressed during his time with the Magpies, scoring 26 goals and registering three assists in 57 appearances in all competitions.

Arsenal also have a couple of other strikers on their radar. Victor Gyokeres of Sporting has also emerged as a big target for Arteta’s side.
