Formula 1: Top three favourites to win British GP 2023

Silverstone has played host to some thrilling driver battles over the years.
It comes as no surprise that over the past few years, the British GP has consistently provided some of the best on-track Formula 1 action, be it Verstappen's collision with Hamilton in 2021 or the three-way battle between Perez, Hamilton, and Leclerc at the 2022 British Grand Prix.
Although Red Bull has emerged as the dominant force in the 2023 season, other teams are also looking to introduce some new upgrades to challenge the Bulls. Now, let's take a closer look at the favourites to win the 2023 British Grand Prix.
3. Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton's unmatched prowess at the British GP is evident, having won the race 8 times. But, in recent years, Mercedes have struggled to match Red Bull's blistering pace, falling short of expectations. However, acknowledging their zero-side pod mistake, the team is on track to bring major upgrades to the 2023 British GP. Therefore, if these upgrades prove successful, Hamilton could have the opportunity to claim his first victory of the season.
"The team is based very close to the track, we've got two British drivers, and the support is always phenomenal, so we love going there. We've got updates coming to the cars, including a new front wing," said Trackside Engineering Director Andrew Shovlin.
2. Charles Leclerc

The 2023 season has been one of the worst for Ferrari, with their car struggling to compete against Mercedes and Aston Martin. However, everything changed at the Austrian GP when Leclerc, with significant upgrades, finished second ahead of Red Bull's Sergio Perez. Although he still fell short of Verstappen's pace, the Tifosi's hopes have been rekindled as the team is once again bringing major upgrades to the British GP. With his caliber, the Monegasque driver could challenge Max Verstappen for a win once again.
Moreover, Leclerc's teammate Carlos Sainz Jr also put up a great fight in the Austrian GP, securing a fourth-place finish. And considering Sainz's record at the iconic Silverstone circuit, fans can hope for a double Ferrari podium finish.
1. Max Verstappen

It's no secret that Max Verstappen's dominance has been extraordinary, even in the face of upgrades from rival teams, as he's consistently finishing over 20 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. His confidence is at such a level that at the Austrian GP, the Dutchman pitted on the final lap for a set of soft tires to claim the fastest lap point from his teammate Sergio Perez.
However, the British GP has always posed a challenge for the Dutchman, and he is yet to win the race for various reasons. Therefore, with his current form, Max will be aiming to secure his first British GP win and the first for Red Bull since 2012.
Regardless of the outcome, fans can expect a thrilling battle at Silverstone. This is because, the combination of high-speed straights, demanding corners, and unpredictable weather conditions creates the perfect recipe for excitement and unpredictability.
