With the Australian GP drawing near, all eyes in the Formula One paddock are fixed on Melbourne’s renowned Albert Park track. Since 1996, races have been held on the circuit. A favourite spot for drivers and spectators alike, this legendary site has a rich history in Formula 1.

Albert Park has always been a hub of excitement, from seeing the debut of future champions like Lewis Hamilton to having incredible experiences on the track.

With significant changes to the circuit layout, the Australian Grand Prix returned in 2022 following an absence brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adding to the excitement for local fans is the presence of two Australian drivers on the grid – Daniel Ricciardo and rising star Oscar Piastre. Both are eager to shine on home soil and make their mark on the prestigious race.

But all eyes are on Red Bull‘s Max Verstappen, who is dominating the championship with two impressive victories under his belt. Can he defend his title and make it a hat-trick of wins at Albert Park? With fierce competition from his teammate Sergio Perez and the promising Ferrari team, the stage is set for an epic showdown at the legendary circuit.

Let’s now examine more closely at the event this year, including everything from the circuit characteristics to the weather prediction.

A Closer Look at the Albert Park Circuit

Spanning 5.278 kilometers around the picturesque Albert Park Lake, this high-speed parkland circuit boasts 14 turns that challenge even the most seasoned drivers. The circuit’s layout underwent significant modifications in 2022, aimed at enhancing overtaking opportunities and overall race excitement.

Among the most significant changes was the elimination of the chicane at Turns 9 and 10, which was substituted with a longer flat-out stretch that now included Turns 9 and 10. In order to enable cleaner racing lines and faster speeds, some bends were also expanded and rearranged, giving onlookers an exciting show.
