A new open-world survival game
Tencent and developer Polaris Quest are currently under the spotlight with their upcoming game, “Light of Motiram.” This is due to its very close resemblance with Sony PlayStation Horizon Zero Dawn.
Now they have released 16 minutes of new gameplay and there are some twists in the gameplay. Let’s check out more details in this article.
A world of mechanimals, survival & creativity
This game sets the players in the post-apocalyptic landscape where human civilization has been usurped by colossal mechanical creatures, known as Mechanimals.
The gameplay footage shows exploration, survival against terrible weather, and encounters with these robotic animals, providing a glance into what appears to be a wonderfully detailed landscape.
Survival themes are popular, with players needing to scavenge, construct, and build to survive in the harsh environment. The introduction of a physics-based building system gives players greater creative license when designing shelters and fortifications that must withstand environmental obstacles, giving complexity to the survival component.
Combat in Light of Motiram uses strategic evading, blocking, and counterattacking, similar to the accuracy found in games such as the Souls series. However, it is unusual in that it incorporates the employment of Mechanimals in battle. Over 100 customizable Mechanimals can be tamed and taught, each with unique battle styles and skills.

Release outlook
For now, the Light of Motiram is scheduled to be released on PC via Steam and Epic Game Store in 2025. The game will also have a cross-play online feature which Horizon Zero Dawn truly lacks.
The reveal has sparked mixed reactions. While some gamers admire the graphic richness and unique gameplay components, others criticize the game’s apparent lack of originality, with remarks like “I think you can’t be more unoriginal than this” reflecting a general frustration with copied gameplay.
However, there is also excitement, with some fans saying, “This looks fantastic,” implying that Light of Motiram may still carve a position in the survival genre.
