Onimusha Way of the Sword new gameplay trailer reveals Miyamoto Musashi as lead

The legendary Japanese swordsman is the main lead

Capcom has just treated its fans with an exciting new gameplay trailer that reveals Miyamoto Musashi as the main protagonist of Onimusha Way of the Sword.

Following a more restrained original reveal, this new teaser delves deep into the action, depicting Musashi’s absorption into the Onimusha realm in the late Edo era. This trailer was recently revealed at the PlayStation State of Play event.

In the new gameplay trailer of Onimusha Way of the Sword, you can clearly see that Capcom has done an amazing job of bringing Miyamoto into this gaming realm as the main lead.

Musashi, renowned for his swordsmanship, creative abilities, and philosophy, now holds the Oni Gauntlet, bringing his distinct approach to bear on the evil Genma. The gameplay clip shows Musashi fighting not only a massive monster but also a slew of smaller, yet no less hazardous, monsters and enemies.

The combat system appears to be both fluid and strategic, with Musashi leveraging the enemy’s own speed against them by throwing them into environmental hazards such as fire to ignite them. His arsenal is not restricted to a single sword; he can flip between twin swords and use elemental assaults in a variety of combat situations.

You can say that the combat is pretty similar to the old Onimusha games, but it’s more polished this time. It’s comparable to Ghost of Tsushima, with a bit of sword hack-and-slash action. Overall, it looks amazing, and I hope we can get a free demo for this game. Towards the end of the trailer, you can also notice that the Oni Gauntlet can talk. Additionally, there were some humorous and comic relief scenes with Musashi, suggesting that he won’t be a totally serious main lead.
