In Season 2 Episode 3 of The Last of Us, Jackson is reeling from a horde attack, while Tommy (Gabriel Luna) deals with Joel’s murder and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) struggles with PTSD.

Three months later, a recovering Ellie meets therapist Gail (Catherine O’Hara), concealing her genuine feelings regarding Joel’s last moments.

Ellie breaks down at home, holding Joel’s jacket and snatching his rifle, after Dina (Isabela Merced) reveals the Fireflies’ Washington Liberation Front ties and their destination in Seattle.

Ellie’s plea for justice at a town meeting, inspired by Jesse’s suggestion, is rebuffed, which strengthens her resolve.

Gail warns Tommy about Ellie’s manipulative behavior, pointing out her similarities to Joel. That night, Dina intervenes in Ellie’s dangerous solo revenge plan, providing a safer alternative.

After visiting Joel’s grave, they go for Seattle at 3:00 a.m., sharing light moments before uncovering dead remains, including a little girl who was most certainly killed by Abby’s group, and facing Seattle’s remnants with an unexpected army presence.
