Hindering hits the game with Waylay

The new season is going to start in VALORANT on March 5, 2025. This will not only bring some new skins, bundles and battlepass, but will also introduce the new agent, “Waylay.”

The most interesting part is that this new agent will come with a new debuff in the game, ‘Hindering.’ This is exclusive to her and definitely going to shake up the meta. Let’s check out more details about the new debuff in this article.

What is the Hindering Debuff?

This is the main question that everyone is having right now and wants to understand properly about the new debuff in the game. Waylay, the radiant Duelist who turns light into a weapon, the new debuff is an exclusive skill to her. When she uses abilities such as Saturate or her ultimate Convergent Paths, foes are hit with a multi-layered slow.

  • Reload Speed: Reloading takes ages.
  • Movement Speed: Footsteps falter.
  • Jump Speed: Hops lose their bounce.
  • Fire Rate: Shots come slower.
  • Recoil Recovery: Spray control lags.
  • Equip Time: Weapon swaps crawl.

Once your agent is hit by that, you will become very slow with your movement and mechanics. Competing against the other agent when you are in debuff is going to be a pain in the a**. Only Waylay can use this skill, so you can expect her in pretty much every match in your ranked games.

June Cuervo, Riot’s Game Designer, summarizes: “Waylay is the tip of the spear for your team.” Hindering debuff boosts her entrance game, allowing her to blast past lines while slowing down opponents. It’s an ideal foil for speedy Duelists like Jett or Raze, as the nerfed jumps and slowed movements negate their quick escapes.

On large maps like Breeze, it can lock down corners and counter aggressive pushes with devastating efficiency. While its utility is most apparent in Waylay’s spearhead style, future agents may also find Hindering useful.

There are also other debuffs in VALORANT which are still pretty useful. This will all depend on how the players want to play and use the abilities to their advantage to secure the kills and win the rank matches.
