In the previous edition held last year, Japan defeated Pakistan in a thrilling final after the regular time score ended 2-2. They won the match 4-1 on a penalty shootout to claim their maiden title in 2024. Meanwhile, New Zealand brushed past Malaysia with a 3-2 scoreline to clinch the bronze medal.
