07:30 PM: Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live update of Day 28 of PKL season 9.

Bengal Warriors vs UP Yoddhas

Bengal Warriors are coming into this encounter with a win against Gujarat Giants (45-40). Maninder Singh the star raider scored 20 raid points and in the past few games has been scoring points consistently. Girish Maruthi Ernak was back to his usual form scoring four tackle points against Gujarat but needs to show consistency as against Tamil Thalaivas the defender couldn’t score a single point. Bengal Warriors will next play UP Yoddhas in their PKL 9 game.

UP Yoddha currently occupy the 11th spot in the points table and after a positive start to the season aren’t able to convert their performances into wins. They are one of the star-studded teams in the PKL having quality raiders and defenders but the combination hasn’t worked yet. With Pardeep Narwal taking over the captaincy the team should look to start fresh.

Head-to-Head

Bengal Warriors and U.P. Yoddhas have faced each other ten times in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) out of which, Bengal Warriors have won four whereas U.P. Yoddha has come out victorious on three occasions with three matches ending in a tie.

Player to watch

Pardeep Narwal has been playing second fiddle to Surinder Gill but can play the role of the primary raider as well in PKL 9. After reaching the 1400 raid points mark the raider has not scored much and is substituted frequently. Surinder Gill needs to have good support who has been scoring at a good pace else it is impossible for him to win matches single-handedly.

After an excellent start to season 9, the experienced defender slid down showing inconsistency. In the last match, the defender went on to score four tackle points but the unsuccessful rate has been high. Surinder Gill is in red-hot form and will be targeting Girish Ernak in the right corner position both for bonus and touchpoints.

Dabang Delhi vs Telugu Titans

Telugu Titans have bounced back strongly in the last two encounters but luck has not been on their side. In the last match, a small error cost them the entire match against Tamil Thalaivas and had they not committed that error they could have taken five points rather went home empty-handed. Siddhart Dessai has scored two consecutive super 10s which shall be a huge sigh of relief for the franchise. Telugu Titans will next play a struggling Dabang Delhi in PKL 9.

Dabang Delhi KC’s campaign is going from bad to worse as season 9 has gone by. The raiders are doing a tremendous job in scoring raid points but it is the defence that has failed miserably. They were at the top of the table for the majority of the Bengaluru leg but now have jumped out of the playoffs contention.

 Head to Head

Bengal Warriors and Dabang Delhi K.C. have faced each other 15 times in the Pro Kabaddi League out of which, Telugu Titans have won eight whereas Dabang Delhi KC has come out victorious on six occasions with one match ending in a tie.

Player to watch

Ashu Malik has looked in great form for the past few matches scoring super 10s at ease. Ashu has scored 78 raid points out of which more than 80 per cent has come from the Pune leg. It was Manjeet who was playing the secondary role to Naveen but Ashu with his brilliant form took over the role from Manjeet. In the last match against Jaipur, Ashu scored more points than Naveen Kumar showing his dominance. The duo of Naveen and Ashu shall be a threat to many temas provided the defence performs well.

Siddharth Desai shall look to continue his consistent run against the Dabang Delhi’s defence. Both the corners from Dabang Delhi have been vulnerable to unsuccessful tackles and Siddharth should make use of this opportunity and score more points and gain his old confidence and form back.
