PKL 12: Top five best moments from Day 18 matches

Puneri Paltan holds the top spot at the end of Day 18 of PKL 12.

Day 18 of Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) followed a similar pattern in both matches. The winning teams, Bengal Warriorz and Tamil Thalaivas, were trailing at one point but made strong comebacks in the second half to snatch victory from their opponents.

In the first match, UP Yoddhas inflicted an early all-out on the Warriorz and were leading by 5 points at halftime. However, Devank Dalal-led Warriorz scripted a brilliant comeback in the second half, inflicting two all-outs to register their second win of the season.

In the second match, Bengaluru Bulls started well and held a 6-point lead at halftime. However, Arjun Deshwal’s Thalaivas dominated the second half, and once they took the lead, they prevented the Bulls from mounting a comeback.

The day was full of thrilling moments and incredible performances. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five moments from Day 18 of PKL 12:

5. Alireza’s Super 10

The Bulls have a history of legendary raiders, and Alireza is leaving his footprints on that same path. He has been incredible so far this season, and once again, he stood up and gave his best for the team.

Today, he scored his 5th Super 10 of the season against the Thalaivas and was one of the main reasons the Bulls were leading at halftime.

He continued picking up crucial points towards the end, but Arjun cleverly picked him and got him out in his own defense, and denied the Bulls any chance of a comeback.

4. Bulls’ Defence off day

One of the main reasons behind the Bengaluru Bulls’ 4-match winning streak was the consistent performance of their defensive unit. ‘

From youngsters to experienced players, everyone was contributing in defence, but they made a lot of mistakes today.

They scored 4 tackle points in the first half, which was equal to the Thalaivas, and that was why they held the lead at halftime. However, in the second half, the Bulls managed only 1 successful tackle, while the Thalaivas registered 8 tackles during that period, giving them a massive advantage.

Overall, the Bulls made 15 unsuccessful tackles and only 5 successful ones in the match. Fans will now be hoping for the defense to make a strong comeback in the upcoming games.

3. Ashish Malik’s High 5

Bengal Warriorz were coming off a 4-match losing streak, and one of the prime reasons for it was the defense not coming together and failing to support the team’s raiders.

While the Warriorz had the best raid points per match average, they also had one of the worst tackle points per match averages in the league. But today, they looked well-prepared, and it was evident in the way Ashish Malik approached his game.

He scored his 3rd High 5 of the season, finishing with 6 tackle points against the Yoddhas, and he made only 2 unsuccessful attempts out of 8. His defensive brilliance gave the raiding unit the much-needed support, and together they secured the second win of the season for the Warriorz.

2. Arjun Deshwal shines again

After releasing Pawan Sehrawat mid-season, the Tamil Thalaivas appointed Arjun Deshwal as their next captain, and so far, he is thriving in that role.

Arjun scored yet another Super 10 today, finishing with 13 points. He led the team with calmness and scripted a brilliant comeback in the second half for the Thalaivas.

Due to his raiding and captaincy brilliance, Tamil Thalaivas registered back-to-back victories and their 3rd win of the season.

1. Devank Dalal’s Super 10

Devank Dalal is having a fantastic season; not even once has he failed to score a Super 10. Today, he registered his 6th Super 10 in 6 games.

At the start of the match, the Yoddhas’ defence kept him quiet and even inflicted an all-out on the Warriorz within the first 10 minutes.

After a few unsuccessful raids, Devank picked up his pace, and there was no stopping him. In the second half, he scripted a brilliant comeback for the Warriorz, this time well supported by his teammates.

He cleaned out the Yoddhas’ defense when only two players were left on the mat, giving the Warriorz the lead for the first time. In the next minutes, the match went toe to toe, but Devank kept scoring points and inflicted yet another all-out on the Yoddhas, sealing a 4-point win for the Bengal Warriorz.

He finished with 17 raid points in total and further strengthened his position as the leading raid scorer of the season so far.
