PKL 12: Sunil Kumar gives big statement on Puneri Paltan ahead of Maharashtra Derby's second chapter

U Mumba registered their sixth win in PKL 12 by defeating Gujarat Giants.

U Mumba secured a vital win to move back into the top four of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) points table. The Mumbai-based franchise defeated Gujarat Giants for the second time in Season 12 and added two crucial points to their tally.

Raider Sandeep Kumar shouldered the attacking duties with perfection and recorded his career best PKL figures of 16 points, while skipper Sunil Kumar scored his second consecutive high five.

After the match, representatives from both sides addressed the media and shared their thoughts.

U Mumba

Thoughts on the win

U Mumba head coach Anil Chaprana expressed his feelings on the win and said, “The team executed whatever we planned against Gujarat, and the boys played 100% according to that, and I knew that if they gave their 100% on the field, they would play very well and win.”

Skipper Sunil Kumar also spoke about the same and said, “We’ve had two great matches here in Chennai. Both of them were excellent. The team played well. Both defense and offense played well. Sandeep did a great job and has scored so well in both matches. Unity is visible within the team. If we continue like this, we’ll be able to win future matches as well.”

Thoughts on Puneri Paltan

Sunil Kumar opened up about his thoughts on Puneri Paltan ahead of their next game and said, “ Their team is strong. Their defense is doing very well. They have 4-5 raiders who can turn the game anytime by scoring five or six points.”

“We have five days and will practice well. We will plan with Coach Sahab how to tackle them. We want to win the next match as well because we lost the last match to Puneri Paltan. So, we’ll try to win this time,” he added.

Gujarat Giants

Thoughts on the game

Gujarat Giants’ assistant coach Varinder Singh Sandhu shared his views after the game and said, “Yes, our plan today didn’t succeed. We, especially our defense, made some mistakes from the start, and our raiding line didn’t live up to our expectations. This led to the match going in U Mumbai’s favour from the start, which we couldn’t cover later.”

Thoughts ahead of the next game

Skipper Rakesh spoke about his feelings ahead of the next game against the Bengal Warriorz and said, “We’ll see and make plans for the next match. Devank Dalal is a good raider; he’s the top raider in the league, but Shadloui is also a good player, so he’ll definitely play well. It’ll be a good match.”

Who tops the PKL 12 points table?

Puneri Paltan holds the top spot at the end of Day 30 of PKL 12.
