PKL 12: Vijay Malik points out Telugu Titans' biggest mistake against UP Yoddha

Home team Telugu Titans suffer their second consecutive defeat in PKL 12.

The second day of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) produced more moments of magic and entertainment.

In the first game, UP Yoddhas clinch an important win over the Telugu Titans with a five-point difference and reach the top of the table. Jasveer Singh’s men were dominant across the game and handed Telugu Titans their second consecutive defeat.

Gagan Gowda and Guman Singh led the line for the Yoddhas and accumulated 21 points in total, while skipper Sumit kept things tight at the back and notched up eight points. Vijay Malik put up a captain’s performance on the mat, but couldn’t save his side from facing another defeat.

After the game, the Telugu Titans captain and head coach, as well as the UP Yoddhas captain and assistant coach, addressed the media.

Krishan Kumar Hooda’s thoughts on the game

Sharing his thoughts on the game, Krishan Kumar Hooda said, “The defence did not play well in the beginning of the match. One player cannot win the game for us. We covered the margin and improved in the later stages. There was only a two-point difference, but Ajit couldn’t make the catch, and that was the turning point of the game. All I can say is that we will come back stronger and focus on our defence.”

Vijay Malik also shared his feelings on the game. He said that his players played well, but if they had made the substitutions early in the game, the result could have been different. The only mistake is that they did not take an early substitution call.

“We played well today as well. There’s no lack of motivation at all. Our coach motivated us, but if we had changed a few players in the early stages, it would have been a different story.”

Upendra Malik’s thoughts on the match

UP Yoddhas’ assistant coach expressed his thoughts after the game. He said that the players controlled the game really well despite a few ups and downs.

“It was our first game. It was important to have a good start, as all the players and coaches were nervous. It was a good game; we started and controlled the game well. There were a few hiccups here and there, but our players handled everything really well,” he added.

Malik also applauded Telugu Titans’ backline and told the media who his team prepared against them. He said, “They have improved their defense from last season. Shubham Shinde and Bharat Hooda are two good new additions. Their left corner and right cover are the same. Sometimes things don’t work. We saw their game from last evening and video-analysed it. Our boys worked on the inputs, and that surely made a difference.”
