Cavani, Suarez highlight preliminary Uruguay squad
Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez names a preliminary 26-man squad as Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez among the star names.
Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has named a preliminary squad of 26 players for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.
Star strikers Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani will once again be leading the line, while there were also call-ups for the likes of Nicolas Lodeiro, who plays his club football with USA’s Seattle Sounders.
Uruguay, two-time World Cup winners, will take on Egypt (15 June), Saudi Arabia (20 June) and hosts Russia (25 June) in Group A.
All squads are provisional until the final list of 23 players is announced by FIFA, following their submission by participating teams, on 4 June.
