Bardez hold Vasco in six-goal thriller in GPL
Micky Fernandes played an important role for Vasco with a goal and two assists.
FC Bardez came twice from behind to hold Vasco Sports Club to a high scoring 3-3 draw in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today.
With this draw, Bardez wasted an easy chance to overlap Guardian Angel SC at 3rd place as they have now 15 points from nine matches, while Vasco has nine points from 10 matches.
Vasco who had suffered two consecutive defeats against Sporting Clube de Goa and Dempo SC in the last two matches made few changes to their side as Micky Fernandes, Daryl Endro and Flan Gomes made the comeback to starting XI. FC Bardez, on the other hand, had only one change to their side which defeated Corps of Signals in the last match as Micky Vaz replaced Danston Fernandes in the lineup.
Bardez were unlucky not to score in the 2nd minutes as their skipper Jessel Carneiro saw his powerful shot rebound off goalpost with Vasco keeper Amit Biswas completely beaten. Five minutes later, they had another opportunity when Kirtikesh Gadedkar was left with just keeper to beat but keeper Amit came off his line block the striker.
At the other end, Bardez custodian was also tasted by Vasco skipper Schubert Pereira when he unleashed powerful strike at the goal from just inside the box but keeper Aliston Fernandes came with a brilliant block. Four minutes later, He once again made brave save to deny Micky Fernandes sparkling free-kick from 40yards.
After some probing attacks, Vasco finally surged ahead in the 25th minutes when Micky made no mistake from the spot to finish the ball home after defender Gaurav Vaigankar brought down Anil Gaoncar in the box to give away the penalty.

However, Bardez came with an equaliser with just a few seconds to halftime as Krishnanath Shirodak connected a diving header to Jessel’s curling free-kick from just outside the box to make it all square for his side.
It was just four minutes into the second half when Vasco once again took the lead as Guinean midfielder Vasseba Toure tapped in from close after Bardez keeper Aliston failed to collect Micky’s curling cross in the box.
At the hour mark, Micky once again set Vasco’s third goal when he made a superb through pass to Schubert who cut past keeper Aliston and placed the ball into the net to make it 3-1 for the Port Towners.
When it was looking like Vasco will comfortably take away all three points, Bardez skipper Jessel reduced the margin when he nicely curled the ball home from 20yards free-kick to make it 2-3 for the Pink Brigade.

In added time, both the teams had a chance each but first Caitano cross kissed the crossbar and went out for a goal-kick, while Schubert’s blistering shot rebounded off the goalpost.
