Indian Player Ratings: Rowllin Borges the shining beacon as NorthEast play out draw with Pune City
(Courtesy : ISL Media)
The Stallions are yet to lose a game since Phil Brown took over as head coach.
After a goalless first half at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, NorthEast United and Pune City together raised the tempo of the game quite considerably in the following 45 minutes, even though the scoreline stood 1-1 at final whistle.
Rowllin Borges scored in the second minute of the second half to give the hosts the lead. However, a thunderous volley by Adil Khan in the 69th minute cancelled out his strike. Pune almost scored another through Iain Hume, when the Canadian hit the crossbar from close range, but it just wasn’t their night and they had to settle for the draw.

Here are the ratings of the Indian players involved in the game:
NorthEast United
Pawan Kumar - 7.0
Pawan was in good shape against the Stallions as he managed to save four shots out of five. However, the one shot he couldn’t keep out turned out to be the equaliser for the visitors, as Khan lashed in a powerful volley.
The 28 year-old did well to keep out Ashique Kuruniyan’s deflected shot. Overall, it was a good performance by the goalkeeper.
Reagan Singh - 7.0
Reagan was pretty solid on the night, as he performed three tackles, five clearances and a massive seven blocks overall. The full-back also maintained a 75% passing accuracy.
Rowllin Borges - 7.5
Starting as a holding midfielder, Rowllin was a great influence in the middle of the park. He scored the opener in the 47th minute with a cool finish, after Kamaljit Singh committed a mistake inside the box.

Watch: Rowllin Borges opened the scoring in the game on Wednesday night
The 26-year-old showed great distribution skills while keeping his passes quite clean. No wonder he had an amazing 85% completion rate. Defensively too, Borges performed a couple of tackles, four interceptions and three blocks. Overall, it was a really solid performance by the midfielder.
Gurwinder Singh - 6.0
The experienced centre-back wasn’t at his best against Pune, as he was beaten easily on a number of occasions by the attackers. He also received a yellow card for a reckless foul on Kuruniyan in the 22nd minute. Nevertheless, he did make a total of 15 clearances in the game, which lasted only 70 minutes for him. He was replaced by Redeem Tlang, when Pune had scored the equaliser.
Lalthathanga Khawlhring - 6.0
The winger wasn’t much of an influence in the game, but his statistics were quite good. Although, Lalthathanga didn’t really contribute much in attack, he helped the team keep possession. Passing the ball well, he paired up nicely with Bartholomew Ogbeche and Federico Gallego. He also maintained a good 78% passing accuracy.
Keegan Pereira- 6.0
The full back played a decent part in the Highlanders' defence against Pune City as he performed a total of seven clearances, four blocks and a couple of interceptions. He also maintained a good 70% passing accuracy. Overall, it was a fair outing for the 31-year-old full-back.
Substitutions
Redeem Tlang - 6.0

FC Pune City
Kamaljit Singh - 5.5
Kamaljit has been a consistent performer this season, having put on some great displays in the previous games. However, it wasn’t the same against the Highlanders, as he committed several errors and put himself in dangerous situations.
In fact, the goal he conceded through Borges in the 47th minute, was the result of a similar mistake when he couldn’t catch hold of the ball. On another occasion in the 86th minute, he spilled a heavy shot after managing to stop it from going in. However, he was lucky to get hold of the ball again before any opponent could capitalize on his error.
Sarthak Golui - 6.0
It was a decent evening for the young right-back who managed to perform five clearances, two tackles and three blocks. However, Golui was beaten one too many times on the wing by Gallego and had to constantly use help from the backtracking Diego Carlos.
Sahil Panwar - 6.0
Sahil wasn’t at his best against NorthEast, as he seemed to be very reckless, especially during one-on-one situations often leading to fouls. He also received a late booking for an unnecessary sliding tackle on Tlang.
Adil Khan - 7.0
The veteran midfielder wasn’t actually at his usual best, as he committed himself during one-on-one situations several times. Nevertheless, Adil registered his first goal of the season as he scored the equaliser for his team with a sensational volley in the 69th minute.
Defensively, the 30-year-old performed five tackles, four clearances and a couple of blocks aas well.
Robin Singh - 6.0
In the absence of Marcelinho, much was expected from Robin Singh, especially after he scored a brace in the last game. However, the striker couldn’t repeat his previous performance, as he didn’t make any impact in attack.
Ashique Kuruniyan - 6.5
The winger showed great quality on the ball, but his passing was really poor with just a 40% completion rate. His 73rd minute effort almost turned into a goal, but the goalkeeper did well to keep his deflected shot from going in. Kuruniyan’s highlight of the game was when he dribbled past two NorthEast men inside the box and took a shot.
The 21-year-old has shown great character this season and needs to continue performing well to cement his place not just in the Pune lineup, but also that of the national team.
