Mumbai City FC sign Tunisian international Amine Chermiti

The 31-year-old striker is being seen as a direct replacement for Rafael Bastos.
Mumbai City FC has announced the signing of Tunisian international Amine Chermiti. The announcement was done through the social media handles of the Islanders. The arrival of Chermiti continues the team's pre-season preparations.
The striker is Mumbai's seventh signing of the summer, after they already brought in Diego Carlos, Mato Grgic, Rowllin Borges, Surchandra Singh, Sourav Das and Hmingthanmawia. With the signing of the Tunisian, Mumbai have maintained a front three of foreigners, also comprising of Carlos and Modou Sougou, who has already extended his stay with the Islanders for another year.
Chermiti brings in the experience of having played in the continental championships of Africa, Asia and Europe. While he also boasts the record of being the first Tunisian to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League. The Tunisian has a runners-up medal in the AFC Champions League, while he had won the CAF Champions League very early in his career.
Skills and goals of the striker in the last two years
The soon-to-be 32-year-old forward, Chermiti started his career by moving up the ranks at JS Kairouan and making his senior debut for them in 2005. After impressing in his debut season, in which he averaged more than a goal per game, the forward signed for another Tunisian club, Etoile Sahel. It is here, that he and his finishing skills caught the eye of the entire continent.
Chermiti scored eight goals in the 2007 CAF Champions League to power his side to the title, winning CAF's African-based Player of the Year award in 2007. He then signed for German side Hertha BSC and was sent on loan to Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad in his second campaign with the club. While playing for Al-Ittihad, Chermiti played in the AFC Champions League and finished as the runner-up of the competition in 2009.

It is during his time with the Swiss club that Chermiti became the first Tunisian to score a hat-trick in the Europa League.
Although, given jersey #9, the Tunisian would be expected to play on the left wing and has been signed as a replacement for Brazilian winger Rafael Bastos according to reports.
