The French club is without the services of star players Edinson Cavani and Neymar.

Paris Saint Germain will visit Old Trafford on Tuesday, to mark the return of the UEFA Champions League this season. The first two matches of the knockout stage will be Manchester United hosting PSG, and FC Porto travelling to AS Roma.

The French team has already faced an English team in the group stage, United's arch-rivals Liverpool. They lost the away game to the Reds at the Anfield.

Dani Alves, who started his season sustaining an injury is confident on facing the on-song Manchester United. He is hoping that they can learn from their defeat to Liverpool.

“I think we have to learn from the mistakes made during the competition and not reproduce the same mistakes,” the Brazilian said.

“There are few games in the Champions League, so there is little room for error. We have to capitalise on what we do well because we have great ambitions in this competition. We need to raise our level of performance, concentration, raise our level in duels, but I know we can do it, and we will do it," he said.

He added, "It will not be easy, of course, they will not give us presents. We will have to race each other to clinch the qualification. We started with a rather negative result at Anfield, and then we raised our level in the competition when we had to show everyone our ability and strength."

Alves is happy with the second leg to be played at home as it holds a psychological advantage over the opponent.

“In the second leg against Liverpool, we responded. When we had to win, we went to get the result. We got the qualification and the first place of the group. It's certainly an advantage (playing at home second), but first and foremost you have to focus on the first leg,” Alves said.

The Manchester United manager certainly understands that PSG are still lethal even after several injuries to crucial players.

"Of course any team that is missing players like Neymar, Cavani and Meunier will feel the effect," he said.

"But it gives other players a chance and maybe they are more unpredictable for us with who they are going to play. When you've seen that front three for the whole season you know what to expect but this time around we're guessing a little bit."

Manchester United are yet to lose a game since 17th December 2018, when they lost to Liverpool at Anfield.
