The Highlanders boss said his team must produce a complete performance against resurgent Pune…
Before tomorrow’s match against FC Pune City, NorthEast United head coach Nelo Vingada faced the press at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati. Appealing to the fans to come in their thousands to support the team for tomorrow’s high voltage clash against the Puneikars the coach said, “My special request is to all supporters to come to the stands to help us to get three points tomorrow, because three points means we are in the middle of the fight.” Terming tomorrow’s game as special he added, “All games are important, but tomorrow is a special one because Pune were not good at the start but now they are with 15 points, to keep our team in the race, it’s crucial to win this match.” Commenting on the last match in which NEUFC drew against ATK he said, “In football these kind of things are normal. All the good teams in the world, even in the English Premier League, La Liga last week some big teams conceded goals and drew or lost a match. But the way we played against Goa, it was intolerable. It was really bad. The bird was in our hand but the bird escaped.” Taking a question on lack of attacking options, which has resulted in his team losing matches he said, “No, in football you have to accept all these things. From every game you derive some positives and negatives. The draw against Kolkata is against a good team. The way we finished the game is almost perfect, but in the last moments someone punched us on the face.” The veteran Portuguese also has to deal with fresh injury concerns to some vital players. “Robin Gurung, Gustavo Lazzaretti and Nirmal Chettri are injured and it is almost certain that they will not start so we have to rethink our strategy,” he concluded.
