Neeraj Chopra was back in 2022 after winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and had a successful season winning almost all the tournaments he participated in. Neeraj became the first Indian athlete to win a silver medal at the Eugene World Championships and was also the first Indian to win the Diamond League in Zurich, Switzerland. The 24-year-old Indian is now the Olympic champion, World Championships silver medallist and Diamond League champion.

Neeraj Chopra started the 2023 season with a World Lead mark of 88.67m at the Doha Diamond League. Untill Neeraj it was Jakub Vadlejch who was holding the WL mark. After practicing in Great Britain and South Africa, Neeraj started his Diamond League campaign on a positive note.
4. World Athletics Championships 2023 (88.77m)
The poster boy Neeraj clinched India's maiden golden medal at the World Athletics Championships 2023. He recorded a season best mark of 88.77m in the first throw of the qualifying round and progressed through to the finals. In the finals, Neeraj Chopra registered 88.17m to claim the top spot and win his second World Championships title.
3. Laussane Diamond League (89.08m)
Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win a Diamond League meet and also breached the qualifying mark for the World Athletics Championships 2023 to be held in Budapest, Hungary.
He registered 89.08m in his first attempt itself and this was his first competition after winning the silver medal at the World Athletics Championships. The first-place finish at Lausanne helped Neeraj Chopra qualify for the finals of the Diamond League with 15 points. Also, Neeraj missed the Commonwealth Games due to injury.

2. Paavo Nurmi Games (89.30m)
Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal after registering a distance of 89.30m and this was his first event after winning the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Although, Oliver Helander from Finland won the gold with a personal best throw of 89.83m. This is also Neeraj’s second-best mark in his entire career.

1. Stockholm Diamond League (89.94m)
Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra broke the national record set at Paavo Nurmi to finish second at the Stockholm Diamond League 2022 with a throw of 89.94m. He also broke the national record for the second time in one month (June). The Javelin thrower from Haryana fell short of breaking another record by falling short of just six centimetres to breach the 90m mark.

Neerja Chopra is approaching the 90m barrier and should be able to breach it in 2023. Currently, the athlete is training at Loughborough University in London along with a few other Indian Javelin throwers who are under the TOPS scheme.
