The men’s singles final takes place on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic will eye a 20th Grand Slam title when he plays Matteo Berrettini in the Wimbledon 2021 men’s singles final on Sunday. Novak Djokovic will be playing a major final at the All England Lawn Tennis Club for the seventh time. He has won five Wimbledon titles so far. A win against Berrettini could make the Serbian only the third man to win six more Wimbledon titles in history.

World No. 1 Djokovic has already won the Australian Open and French Open this season. He would want to maintain his unscathed run. His challenger Italian Matteo Berrettini is making his maiden Grand Slam final appearance. Berrettini is also the first Italian player in 45 years to advance to the Grand Slam final.

Plenty of chances but no finished product

The 25-year-old has only dropped two sets in Wimbledon 2021, both in the previous two rounds. But he will face Djokovic, who is yet to drop a set, in the final. The Serbian is already a two-time defending champion at Wimbledon and can make it three in a row with a win on Sunday.

Venue: Centre Court, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club

On the other hand, win or not, Berrettini has already scripted history. On Friday, he became the first Italian to reach a Wimbledon final. Berrettini beat Hubert Hurkacz 6-3, 6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-4 to script history. He is also the first Italian since Adriano Panatta at Paris in 1976 to advance to the Grand Slam final.

Berrettini and Djokovic have faced each other twice in history, the last of which came at Roland Garros quarter-finals earlier this year. Djokovic has won both of those past meetings.

Apart from the men’s singles final, the Wimbledon mixed doubles final will also be played on Sunday. The seventh seed of Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk will face qualifiers, Joe Salisbury and Harriet Dart.
