Fulham to launch investigation after alleged racial abuse directed at player's family

The Cottagers are probing allegations that defender Cyrus Christie's sister was hit and abused by a fan following the team's defeat to Barnsley on Saturday.
London outfit Fulham are currently looking into claims of a racial attack allegedly directed at defender Cyrus Christie's sister. The Championship side issued a statement following the incident,
Fulham Football Club is investigating an incident which took place in the away end at the Barnsley v Fulham fixture this afternoon. Should the perpetrators be identified, the Club will be taking the strongest possible action.#FFC

The club added that they are working with "the relevant authorities to investigate exactly what took place."
The Irish international had taken to Twitter to call out the perpetrators. He tweeted, “To the Fulham fan that decided to hit my sister at the game today and his wife who justified his actions with racist remarks, I hope you’re proud of yourself and feel like a big man.”

The 26 year old has been a vocal advocate against racism in football and was also a part of Nike's documentary on discrimination in sport, which he announced on Twitter a day prior to the unfortunate incident.

Drearily, the racial attack comes a fortnight after the British anti-discrimination body, "Kick It Out" reported that racial abuse against players and fans in English football has risen up 43% since last season.
