Sports are growing in popularity. Football, basketball, cricket, and more are all receiving a lot more attention now than they were, even a couple of years ago. It is largely for that reason that brands are looking to enter sponsorship deals with different sports to boost brand visibility.

We’ve seen the impact of sports sponsorships with iGaming and online bookies. Online sports betting websites and online casino apps have both gotten a major boost in popularity due to their sponsorship deals with different leagues or teams. So, what Indian sectors would benefit from sponsorship in sport?

Telecommunications

It may seem strange for the telecommunication sector to enter sponsorship deals with sports leagues or teams. However, it is not all that weird, considering that plenty of seemingly unrelated industries do collaborate with sports teams a lot of the time. 

In India, the telecom sector is highly developed, and very competitive. Any chance for a boost of brand visibility is a welcome one. And what could be a bigger boost than collaborating with a cricket team, or sponsoring a cricket league? 

In India, cricket is the number one sport, so a telecom company working with the Indian Premier League is almost certainly going to be a win-win scenario. Not only would it improve the sport, but it would also bring many eyes to said company.

Banks

Every country needs banks, and India is no exception. Some of the biggest businesses in the country are banking companies, and with the growing popularity of digital payments in both urban and rural regions of India, now is the perfect time for banks to start advertising. 

The wide reach that sports like football, cricket, etc. have in India is a great way for banks to attract new customers. As we said, even rural areas of the country are becoming digitized, and are looking for ways to make payments online. 

Healthcare

In the 21st century, there seems to be a growing awareness regarding health and self-improvement. A lot of people are becoming much more interested in improving their health, and maintaining a better lifestyle. So, it is no surprise that hospitals and pharmaceutical companies are growing financially.

By stepping into sponsorship deals with athletic events or sports teams, Indian hospitals and pharmaceutical companies can get a lot more exposure. Some of these events are seen by people from all over the world, after all.

However, that is not the only reason a healthcare–sporting event collaboration may be beneficial. By collaborating with the sports industry, healthcare providers can position themselves as enablers of a healthier lifestyle, as athletes are often seen as the pinnacle of physical health. 

Other Sectors Worth Mentioning

We’ve brought up three, fairly popular sectors of Indian industry that can greatly benefit from a sports collaboration. However, these three are not the only ones that could do so. Education, information technology, and the automotive industry can all stand to gain quite a lot. That is not even mentioning beverage companies and clothing brands, which have been working with sports for decades.
