Players with most Grand Slam quarter-final appearances in Open Era

These players have dominated the four slams in recent times.
While the new generation of tennis is turning heads at the French Open 2023, the absence of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams has left a void. The only Open Era legend competing is Novak Djokovic.
At 36, Novak Djokovic surpassed the king of clay Rafael Nadal to win the record the highest number of appearances in the French Open quarter-finals.
Open-era legends have created some astonishing records in tennis over the years, which will be unbeatable for many years. Here's a look at the overall record of highest quarter-final appearances in grand slams:
5) Martina Navratilova
Martina Navratilova has won 18 singles grand slams during her career, takes the fifth position. The Czech–born American player appeared in 53 quarter-finals. Overall she has 59 grand slams under her belt including doubles and mixed matches.
4) Serena Williams
Serena shares this record with Chris Evert, as she also appeared in 54 quarter-finals. Retired now, Serena remains the tennis player with the highest grand slam wins. Williams' iconic 2013 quarter-final appearance is one of the most unforgettable moments of her career. Serena made a classic comeback as she defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova by 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 and eventually won the grand slam defeating Maria Sharapova.
3) Chris Evert
Hailed as the 'Ice Maiden' of tennis, Evert has continued her third position even though she retired 34 years ago. American tennis legend appeared in 54 quarter-finals during her career. Notably, she won 18 grand slams during her career.
2) Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic is eyeing to settle the Big Three GOAT debate by winning his 23rd grand slam. Djokovic broke the record for most quarter-final appearances in the French open. Notably, he appeared in 56 quarterfinals during his career. The tennis world still gets goosebumps remembering the French Open quarter-finals in 2015. Despite Nadal's clay dominance, Djokovic defeated him 7-5, 6-3, 6-1.
1) Roger Federer
The Swiss Maestro holds the record for most quarter-final appearances in grand slam history. Federer has appeared in 58 quarter-finals during his rewarding career and won 20 grand slams. One of his most iconic quarter-final matches was against American legend Andre Agassi during the 2004 US Open. Agassi wasn't ready to lose to Federer on his home ground, but Roger outclassed him in a five-set thriller.
