Since 2008, none of the players have won back-to-back titles in the hard court Major
The US Open is the season-ending Grand Slam followed by Wimbledon, French Open and Australian Open in chronological order. Several top players have clinched the prestigious title in the past out of which three players – Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras, and Roger Federer have won the US Open championships five times each. None of the male players have clinched five plus titles in the hard-court Major.
With five straight title wins (from 2004 to 2008), Federer has the most back-to-back victories in the competition. The record was established by the Swiss star during his incredible run of men’s tennis supremacy. No one has been able to successfully defend the US Open title since Federer’s final victory in 2008.
Jimmy Connors claimed five US Open victories while playing on three distinct court surfaces. John McEnroe’s seven Major victories include four US Open titles. Carlos Alcaraz, WR-1, from Spain is the reigning US Open champion. He is currently looking forward to break the 15-year old record of winning two successive titles at Flushing Meadows.
