Australian Alex de Minaur is the sole newcomer in a sea of experienced faces.

The final eight to make the ATP Finals 2024 have two former champions in their midst – Alexander Zverev (2018, 2021) and Daniil Medvedev (2020). Medvedev also made the finals in 2021. Among the remaining six, Casper Ruud and Jannik Sinner have got close to the trophy by reaching the title round of the 2022 and 2023 editions, respectively.

There are also Taylor Fritz and Carlos Alcaraz, the 2022 and 2023 semi-finalists, in the fray. Alcaraz qualified in 2022 but had to skip the event due to an injury. Fritz, the top-ranked American, is making his second appearance at the ATP Finals. Andrey Rublev is another familiar face at the year-ending event, having made the trip five times consecutively, including the 2024 edition. Rubelv’s best result is the semi-final in 2022.

Among the seasoned competitors this year is Alex de Minaur, who will make his debut at ATP Finals 2024. The Australian reached the Next Gen ATP Finals twice in a row in 2018 and 2019. De Minaur lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in 2018 and the current world No. #1 Jannik Sinner in 2019.

Sinner will be the favourite to win on home turf at the ongoing event hosted in Turin, Italy. Sinner leads with seven ATP Titles, while Zverev has 66 match wins and the Rome and Paris Masters in the bag. Alcaraz has won the Channel Slam (Wimbledon and French Open).

Fritz joined the party after winning his third Eastbourne title and reaching the US Open final for the first time. Rublev won the Madrid Masters trophy at the expense of Alcaraz, handing the Spaniard a defeat in Spain.

Casper Ruud picked up the Barcelona Open title, an ATP 500 event and the biggest of his career. Alex de Minaur matched his performance in the 2021 season by picking up trophies at ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Acapulco in 2024.

The Inalpi Arena will see the elite eight in a fight to the finish for the $4.8 million in singles prize money reserved for the undefeated champion. The 1500 ATP Points kept for the undefeated champion is another incentive for the players to put their best foot forward.

The prize for winning the finals is set at $2.2 million. While it is half of what an undefeated champion will earn, it is double what Zverev earned for winning the 2024 Paris Masters.

The doubles team winning undefeated will be richer by $959,300. Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic are the top seeds and the first doubles team to qualify for the ATP Finals. Marcelo Granollers and Horacio Zeballos follow as the second seeds. The top two seeded pairings have enjoyed a successful 2024, winning three Masters events and one Grand Slam between them.

Arevalo and Pavic picked up wins at the Cincinnati Masters and Roland Garros. The Granollers and Zeballos duo followed with title runs at the Canada and Rome Masters.
