Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek: Who will be first to achieve Career Grand Slam?

Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Iga Swiatek are one tournament away from completing a historic feat.
A Grand Slam title is regarded as one of the highest individual accomplishments in tennis. Despite their immense talent, several eminent players have fallen short of bagging these coveted trophies. Achieving a career Grand Slam — winning the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open at least once- is an even rarer feat.
Only a select few players have managed to join this elite club, earning recognition as true legends of the sport. A career Grand Slam is a testament to a player’s dominance and adaptability, showcasing their ability to excel across different surfaces and conditions.
Each Slam presents its unique challenges. The hard courts of the Australian Open and US Open demand fast-paced play and sharp reflexes, while the clay courts at Roland Garros test a player’s endurance and tactical patience through grueling rallies.
Wimbledon, with its iconic grass surface, requires a blend of explosive speed and sustained consistency, making it arguably the most challenging of them all to conquer.

Novak Djokovic is the only male player in Open Era history to have completed the Career Grand Slam three times, another distinction that separates him from the rest. On the women’s front, Steffi Graf stands alone, having remarkably achieved the career Slam on four separate occasions.
The most recent man to accomplish this was Djokovic, who secured his third French Open crown to complete his third career Slam. Meanwhile, Serena Williams was the last woman to achieve the feat, winning the French Open in 2015.
Players looking for a career slam in 2026-
Jannik Sinner – Roland Garros

Jannik Sinner has won the Australian Open twice (2024, 2025), the US Open once in 2024, and recently triumphed at Wimbledon 2025. This leaves him only one major away from the career Grand Slam.
Interestingly, he was one point away during the 2025 Roland Garros tournament, as he failed to convert match points against Carlos Alcaraz in the finals, and went down despite a two-set lead.
Had he won that tournament, he would have been bidding for a rare calendar slam at the US Open. In 2026, the Italian would hope to repeat his 2025 heroics and go one step further to register his biggest victory on the Parisian clay.
His route to glory might not be easy, but given his performances over the past few months, it is certain that, barring Alcaraz, nobody can challenge him on clay.

Carlos Alcaraz – Australian Open

Carlos Alcaraz has defended his crown successfully at both Wimbledon and the French Open. He fell short of claiming his third SW19 title, handing him his first defeat in a major final. The Spaniard’s maiden Grand Slam triumph came in 2022 at the US Open. He is currently a five-time Grand Slam champion, and the only tournament where he has yet to find success is at the Australian Open.
Despite the 22-year-old’s dominance on the ATP circuit since 2023, he has struggled to replicate his heroics at Melbourne Park. The Spaniard has never managed to go past the quarter-finals Down Under, suffering back-to-back defeats in the final eight over the past two years.
In 2024, he was eliminated by Alexander Zverev, and in 2025, he was knocked out by eight-time AO winner Novak Djokovic. In 2026, the Spaniard will hope to buck the trend and win his first title in Australia to join an elite list of players.
Iga Swiatek – Australian Open

Iga Swiatek is the only active player, male or female, to have never lost a Grand Slam final. The Pole improved her record to 6-0 with a victory at Wimbledon 2025, in which she beat Amanda Anisimova with a double bagel in the final.
Swiatek recorded her first-ever title on the grass-court slam, making her also the only WTA Player to have won a Slam on every surface.
She is widely hailed as ‘The Queen of Clay’, having won four titles in Paris, including a three-peat. Her dominance on clay is second to none in the WTA field, as she continues to follow the footsteps of her icon, Rafael Nadal.
Swiatek’s only hard-court win came at the US Open 2022, when she overcame Pegula, Aryna Sabalenka, and finally Ons Jabeur in the finals to win her third Slam at that point.
Swiatek was one point away from reaching her first-ever Australian Open final, as she had a match point up for grabs during her semi-final clash against Madison Keys.
However, she failed to convert, as the American showed tremendous nerve and went on to claim the title. The former world No. 1 is a two-time semifinalist and will now bid to become the sixth woman in Open Era history to complete a Career Slam in 2026.
