French Open 2025 Entry List: Jannik Sinner headlines men's singles division

Jannik Sinner reached his fourth consecutive Grand Slam final.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner booked his maiden Wimbledon final spot, brushing aside a weak and injured Novak Djokovic in straight sets. The Italian has enjoyed a purple patch over the past two years and has further bolstered his reign at the top of the rankings with a solid campaign at SW19.

His first Grand Slam triumph came at the Australian Open 2024, where he defeated Djokovic. Later that year, he claimed his first US Open title, beating local hope Taylor Fritz. The Italian completed a double at Melbourne Park with a comfortable straight-sets win over Alexander Zverev in the final.

Returning from a three-month suspension, Sinner reached the finals of Italian Open, his first event since the ban, and then dominated every round at Roland Garros, including his semi-final clash against the Serbian, and seemed to clinch his maiden Roland Garros title when he was two sets up against Carlos Alcaraz in the final, only to be denied most stunningly by the Spaniard.

Despite the defeat, Sinner demonstrated his versatility across all surfaces and returned to Wimbledon 2025 seeking redemption, having previously reached the semi-finals in 2023. As higher seeds tumbled around him, he continued his impressive run, further asserting his dominance at the grass-court Slam.

The 23-year-old survived a huge scare against Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16, as he found himself down by two sets. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, the Bulgarian developed a horrific pectoral injury, forcing him to withdraw mid-match. Sinner also developed an elbow injury, which seemed to hamper his performance.

Despite the setback, he quickly bounced back to crush Ben Shelton in the quarters, and later went on to humiliate the 7-time champion in the semis. The top seed confirmed his maiden Wimbledon final berth and will lock horns with 2-time defending champion Alcaraz.

By doing so, his latest heroics place him ahead of several legends of the sport. Aged 23 years 318 days, Sinner became the second-youngest player in the Open Era to reach the final at all four Grand Slam events.

The Italian has surpassed Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, and Roger Federer, and trails only America’s Jim Courier, who managed to achieve this impressive feat when he was only 22 years old.
