Novak Djokovic’s K-Pop dance, after his win over Taylor Fritz in the US Open 2025 quarter-finals, wasn’t the only talking point for Indian fans at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday night. Djokovic, 38, brought out his latest dance move as a gift to his daughter Tara, who was celebrating her birthday on September 2.

In the stands though was a 44-year-old, a giant in his own game, who also grabbed the headlines with his appearance in the match.

Former Indian captain and legend MS Dhoni was spotted enjoying the quarter-final contest. It was a classic night-session duel under the lights at the iconic Arthur Ashe stadium.

Dhoni’s love for tennis is no secret, with the Indian legend having previously attended Wimbledon, and now making an appearance at the US Open in New York—becoming the first Indian cricketer spotted there this year.

Currently active only in the Indian Premier League as captain of the Chennai Super Kings, the 44-year-old bid farewell to international cricket on August 15, 2020.

His final outing came in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, where his heartbreaking run-out dismissal marked the end of India’s campaign and remains one of the most emotional moments of his storied career.

Zakir Khan, popular Indian comedian, was earlier spotted at the event alongside Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley. His visit to the States is no coincidence, having become the person from the country to have delivered a Hindi-language show at the legendary Madison Square Garden.

The high-profile clash between Djokovic and Fritz lived up to expectations, as the Serbian put on a masterclass against the in-form American, with the famous showdown between the four-time US Open winner and the local crowd.

However, amidst all the drama the seventh seed managed to close the match in four sets.

The focus now shifts to the all-important semi-final clash between World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian, now featuring in his fourth consecutive Grand Slam semi-final, holds the edge over the Spaniard on recent form, having emerged victorious in their previous two meetings. He also leads 3-0 on hard courts against Alcaraz.

However, this time around, Alcaraz has age, momentum and form on his side. Apart from the Cincinnati triumph, the 22-year-old is yet to drop a set at the Flushing Meadows this season and is likely to pose a formidable challenge for the Serbian icon.
