Nick Kyrgios returns to Wimbledon action! Australian tennis ace joins TNT Sports as commentator

Nick Kyrgios returns to commentary at Wimbledon after BBC axing for alleged controversial remarks.
He may not be on court, but you can’t keep Nick Kyrgios off the action. The 30-year-old Australian is absent from Wimbledon 2025 due to an injury setback and while he participated in Wimbledon 2024 as a commentator for BBC, he was not retained by the broadcaster for this edition due to his controversial remarks.
The Australian has a troubled past, which reportedly made several of his colleagues at the BBC uncomfortable. In February 2023, Kyrgios admitted to assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Chiara Passari.
His hiring by the BBC last year was widely criticised by senior MPs and women’s rights campaigners, who questioned the broadcaster’s decision given his history. Caroline Nokes, chair of the women and equalities committee, criticized BBC, saying it should “hang its head in shame” for the decision.
Kyrgios’s axing in 2025 came without a clear explanation, but it was evident that the organization bowed to mounting pressure. As expected, Kyrgios slammed the BBC’s decision, calling it “very strange” and expressing his disappointment over the lack of transparency.
“It’s unfortunate, but it’s probably their loss more than mine,” Kyrgios told The Guardian. “I understand they’ve got Chris Eubanks, but he hasn’t beaten the greatest of all-time multiple times. “When someone’s beaten Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovic and has incredible insights, it’s very strange you wouldn’t want that person adding knowledge to tennis fans,” he added.

However, Kyrgios fans can soon hear him call matches live on air as the 2022 Wimbledon finalist is set to commentate on the men’s and women’s singles finals at Wimbledon 2025 for TNT Sports.
Eurosport, which had held UK broadcasting rights for both Wimbledon singles finals since 2016, extended a five-year deal with the All England Club before going off air in February and merging into TNT Sports.
As a result, TNT Sports inherited the rights package and will now air championship matches, offering viewers a fresh alternative to the BBC’s coverage — one that will notably feature the outspoken Nick Kyrgios as part of its commentary team.
The 30-year-old has also been very vocal about his views on top seed Jannik Sinner, when the Italian was found guilty and banned for three months due to doping negligence. Moreover, his recent comments on Carlos Alcaraz, in which Kyrgios controversially said “Alcaraz likes girls”, has now put him in the bad books of both top-two seeds.
In a highly likely situation where these two meet in the Wimbledon final, it would be interesting to hear Kyrgios’ views.

Despite the fallout, the Australian did not rule out a potential reunion, claiming “I’m sure our paths will cross again.” Still an active tennis player, Kyrgios has been forced to deal with injuries, affecting what promised to be an exciting career.
The Australian has played four tournaments in 2025 but managed to muster just a solitary victory. His shoddy record, especially at his home Slam, signals a potential end to his tennis career.
