Novak Djokovic withdrew from the 2024 French Open with a knee injury.

Novak Djokovic defeated Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets to reach the men’s singles semifinals at Paris Olympics 2024, his career’s fourth semis at the Olympics. However, during the match, the 24-time Grand Slam was seen taking medical treatment and painkillers.

The Serbian tennis star was visibly suffering from a knee issue but continued the quarter-final. Novak Djokovic also stated that he’s concerned about the injury and the pain gave him memories of Roland Garros.

At the 2024 French Open, he had to withdraw from the quarter-finals after he suffered a knee injury in the fourth round against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo. It was later revealed that Djokovic tore his meniscus and he underwent a surgical procedure in Paris in the same week.

Nevertheless, the Serb recovered in three weeks and returned to play at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. Djokovic reached the final of the grass-court Major, where he lost in straight sets against Carlos Alcaraz in only two hours and 28 minutes.

After the recent injury scare, he said in the post-match interview (via AFP), “I am very worried, honestly, I don’t know what to say. I finished the match, and the intense pain went away. Whether I hit myself or slipped, I don’t even know.”

He further added, “It all resembled the fourth round of Roland-Garros where I managed to finish the match, and then I found out I was injured. I am pleased with the victory, but I am worried.”

He’s set to face Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-final of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Musetti stunned defending gold medalist Alexander Zverev 7-5, 7-5 in two hours and five minutes in the last eight.

Before facing Zverev, he made his place in the quarterfinals with a convincing win over America’s Taylor Fritz. As a result, Novak Djokovic is expected to overcome a neck-to-neck battle against Musetti to reach the final in Paris.

Meanwhile, the Serbian tennis star is currently chasing his first gold medal at the Olympics. For the gold, the 37-year-old has made changes to his lifestyle and workout regime. He’s staying out of the Olympic Village, and he also decided to practice in the break before the Paris Olympics. Thus, as per the current reports, the Serb will play in the Olympic semifinals.
