Sebastian Baez is the defending champion.

The ATP Rio Open 2025, a professional men’s tennis tournament, will be played on outdoor clay courts. As the 11th edition of the event, it is part of the ATP 500 series on the 2025 ATP Tour. The competition provides players the opportunity to shift their focus from hard courts to clay, with the French Open coming up in a few months’ time.

The event clashes with the ATP Qatar Open and hence, players had to make a choice between either competition. Several of the top stars including Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev have opted to play in Doha. However, some big names and promising youngsters will feature in Rio.

World No. #2 and 2025 Australian Open finalist Alexander Zverev will look to begin his clay season with a title win. Lorenzo Musetti, who had an excellent 2024 will be determined to get back to winning ways. Promising youngster Joao Fonseca headlines the field as he aims to make it big on home soil.

Spaniards have historically enjoyed great success in Rio, with winning the inaugural edition and Carlos Alcaraz continuing the legacy by claiming the title in 2022. Alcaraz reached the final again in 2023 but fell to Cameron Norrie in a three-set battle. This year, however, Pedro Martínez is the only Spanish player ranked inside the top 50 competing in the event.
