The Rio Open 2025 is a professional men’s tennis tournament, set to be played on outdoor clay courts. It will be the 11th edition of the Rio Open, and part of the ATP Tour 500 tournaments of the 2025 ATP Tour. This competition provides an opportunity for players to shift their focus from hard courts to clay courts, with the French Open coming up in a few months.

The event clashed with the ATP Qatar Open and hence, players had to choose between one of the tournaments. Several top stars including Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, and Daniil Medvedev have opted to play in Doha. However, some big names and promising youngsters will feature in Rio.

World Number Two and Australian Open 2025 finalist Alexander Zverev will look to begin his clay season with a title win. Lorenzo Musetti, who had an excellent 2024 will be determined to get back to winning ways. Promising youngster Joao Fonseca headlines the field as he aims to make it big on home soil.

India’s top-ranked singles player, Sumit Nagal was a last-minute addition to the lineup. Nagal entered the competition following Holger Rune’s withdrawal. The experienced American men’s doubles pairing of Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram are seeded fourth.

Sebastian Baez won the 2024 Rio Open event, defeating Mariano Navone 6-2, 6-1 in the singles final. Nicolas Barrientos and Rafael Matos lifted the doubles trophy, defeating the pairing of Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler 6-4, 6-3 in the final.

When and where will the Rio Open 2025 take place?

The ATP Rio Open 2025 will run from February 16-23. The clay-court ATP 500 tournament, established in 2014, will take place at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
