On the other hand, World No. 4 Taylor Fritz is on the verge of his second consecutive Grand Slam semifinal after making it to the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time.

Fritz reached four Grand Slam quarterfinals between 2022–24 and went further last year at the US Open, reaching the final for the first time.

The 27-year-old American is the only local hero left in title contention after Ben Shelton’s third-round exit. Fritz booked his quarterfinal spot with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Tomas Machac.

Djokovic and Fritz have faced each other 10 times in their careers, with the 24-time Grand Slam champion holding a perfect 10-0 record against the American. Their most recent clash came at the 2024 Shanghai Masters 1000, where Djokovic once again proved too strong.
