Chad Gable is one of the highly rated and talented wrestlers in WWE, with incredible strength and tackling ground skills. He had a great singles run last year during the feud with Gunther and was the only person to defeat The Ring General in the main roster. However, it being a count-out win, he wasn’t able to clinch the title from him.
He had re-matches with the Mighty Austrian but failed to win the match. Although the feud didn’t find a finish, the IC Champion moved on to other feuds and storylines. Now, Gable spoke about reigniting the feud with Gunther and finishing his story.
Chad Gable on finishing his story
Chad Gable recently appeared for an interview with the Battleground Podcast, where he spoke about his unfinished story with Gunther. Gable recalled his feud with Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship and said that he never had a closure for the feud and says that he wants to finish his story by dethroning Gunther to become the Intercontinental Champion.
He said that he is attached to the stigma of being a tag team guy, but he is a single’s wrestler, which he wants to prove by winning the single’s championship.
Chad Gable said,
“For those that didn’t see, I went through a period through the late summer and early fall with Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship. He’s on this insane run right now, a record-setting run with the title. I don’t think I ever got closure with [his feud with Gunther]. I feel like there were still some loose ends left there, that could still be tied up. So first and foremost, if I had it my way I’d like to finish that up. I’d like to finish that story.”
“I’d like to win that championship and really solidify myself as a singles guy, finally. I’ve kind of always had this stigma attached to me that I’m a tag team wrestler, and I think winning my first singles championship is my chance to break free from that for good. So, that would be my goal.”
