The Money in the Bank PPVs are one of the most anticipated events

Money in the Bank is one of the most popular pay-per-views/premium live events created and hosted by WWE since 2010. The event was established by the success of Money in the Bank ladder matches, however they became one of the biggest PPVs of the company.

WWE has hosted a total of 14 MITB PPVs so far and this year marks the 15th PPV. As we are just weeks away from the 15th edition of Money in the Bank PLE, we take a look at the top five WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-views of all time.

5. Money in the Bank 2016

The 2016 Money in the Bank PPV featured a number of matches, mainly surrounding the Shield. Some of the iconic moments of the PPV include Dean Ambrose winning the MITB briefcase, and cashing it on Seth Rollins the same day. All the three members of the Shield held the title.

The other most appreciated match was the singles match between John Cena and AJ Styles, where Styles defeated Cena after a 24-minute close match. New Day defended their tag team title on the line in a four-way match against Enzo & Cass, Gallows & Anderson and The Vaudevillains.

4. Money in the Bank 2010

This is the first ever MITB pay-per-view hosted by WWE, following the success of the MITB ladder matches. It was one of the best pay-per-views with an engaging storyline and highly competitive matches.

The most memorable moments of the event include Kane winning the Money in the Bank briefcase for SmackDown and brutally chokeslammed Rey Mysterio to win the title by cashing-in the same day and The Miz winning the MITB briefcase for Raw, the main event of the show.

3. Money in the Bank 2021

The 2021 MITB PPV was one of the best pay-per-views of the year, where Roman Reigns successfully defended his Universal Championship against Edge in a singles match in the main event. After which John Cena made his return to WWE. The event marked the beginning of The Usos’ iconic SmackDown Tag Team Championship reign, where they defeated The Mysterios to win the title.

In the marquee MITB ladder matches, the two underdogs Big E and Nikki ASH clinched their first major singles win. The women’s division showcased the battle between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley, where Flair dethroned Ripley for the Raw Women’s Championship.

2. Money in the Bank 2023

The 2023 MITB PPV was a great visual treat, which was held in London, United Kingdom. The Bloodline Civil War main evented the show, where Jey Uso pinned Roman Reigns to end his four years unpinned streak. In the pre-main event, Seth Rollins defeated Finn Balor for the World Heavyweight Championship in his first PPV title defense.

The other major moments of the event were Damian Priest & IYO SKY winning the MITB briefcase, Cody Rhodes defeating Dominik Mysterio and the team of Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez dethroning Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler.

1. Money in the Bank 2011

The 2011 Money in the Bank PPV, is hands down the best MITB PPVs of all time, which featured great storylines and the future of WWE was on the line.

CM Punk challenged John Cena for the WWE Championship in the main event of the show. The match was held in Punk’s hometown, Chicago and Punk’s contract is expiring by mid-night. Punk promised to take the title with him. McMahon was tying his best to stop Punk from winning the title and did everything by his side, however, Punk won the title and took the title with him with the iconic kiss to McMahon. 

The other major moments include Alberto Del Rio winning the MITB briefcase for Raw, Daniel Bryan winning the MITB briefcase for SmackDown and Christian defeating Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship.
