The announcement was made during the December 1 show of Raw.
‘WWE World Heavyweight Champion’ CM Punk was viciously attacked by a masked man who jumped into the cage during the men’s WarGames match. Bron Breakker capitalized on this opportunity, delivering a thunderous spear to pin Punk and secure the win for his team at the Survivor Series PLE last weekend.
Riding high on the pinfall victory, Paul Heyman, along with Breakker, met with Raw General Manager Adam Pearce during the December 1 fallout show of WWE Raw. Later in the show, during a segment, Heyman announced that Punk will defend the World title against Breakker on the January 5 episode of Raw.
Breakker has only held the Intercontinental title on the main roster and is looking to break into the main event scene by winning the World title to kick off 2026. The January 5, 2026, show of Raw is set to emanate from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
On the other hand, Joe Tessitore on commentary revealed that CM Punk is not cleared for action after the WarGames match. Punk was absent from the fallout show, but Breakker did cut a scathing promo after the announcement.
Bron Breakker complained that it was easy to pin the World Champion

After the announcement, Paul Heyman handed the mic to Bron Breakker, who delivered a scathing promo complaining how easy it was to pin the World Champion at Survivor Series: WarGames. He labeled Punk a “soft as* b*tch” and claimed he was no different from Seth Rollins, whom he called a narcissist, who holds everyone down.
Breakker also brought up Punk’s wife and fellow WWE star AJ Lee, stating that instead of holding everyone else down, Punk should be focused on the war going on inside his home, that his wife is a bigger star than he is.
Breakker noted how Punk had tried to injure him during the WarGames match, and he vowed to destroy Punk’s life and career in retaliation.
He also recounted that Punk had congratulated him backstage at WrestleMania 41, challenging him to see if he could “cut a promo with the big dogs.” Breakker declared that the challenge had now been met, signaling that Punk would be looking up as Breakker positioned himself as the new champion. The intense promo ended with Bron claiming that he was the real best in the world.
No other matches or segments have been announced for the January 6, 2026, episode of Monday Night Raw in Brooklyn.
