‘The World’s Strongest Man’ has confirmed his AEW exit, but he will not be leaving pro wrestling.
Mark Henry is one of the pro wrestling veterans, who has a legacy in the wrestling industry. The World’s Strongest Man is known for his time with WWE from 1996 to 2021 and was one of the most powerful and strongest stars in the company. He is a three-time champion in WWE and is a Hall of Fame Inductee.
Henry retired from an in-ring career in 2017 and worked in non-wrestling roles with WWE. In 2021, Henry moved to AEW and worked in the commentary to enhance their talents. It is now revealed that the World’s Strongest Man AEW contract is coming to an end. With the AEW contract expiring, is he returning back to WWE?
Mark Henry returning to WWE?
Mark Henry on the latest edition of Busted Open Radio spoke that his AEW Contract is coming to an end and not going to renew his deal. However, said that he is not going to leave pro wrestling either.
Henry said,
“I am not going to be renewing my deal, I think that it’s a mutual thing if I can’t dedicate 100% of myself then it’s only fair for both parties to end the relationship on a positive note. Like I said it’s been nothing but positive, I’ve done my best to help as many people as I could.”
“There were still some things that I wanted to help with that I didn’t get to finish but those people have my phone number and anytime that they need to call me I’m available for them. I am not leaving pro wrestling, what I’m saying is I’m going to take some time to work on some projects and I’m going to come back again in full force because that’s what I do.”
Henry’s statement hints that he will be moving somewhere else, and there is a probability that he could return to WWE for non-wrestling roles. However, nothing is confirmed yet about Henry joining WWE.
Fans’ theory of Mark Henry’s AEW departure & Henry’s response
On the other hand, his AEW departure has become a debate online among fans, where a fan said his AEW departure was surprising, as Jericho took his spot and reduced his soundbite.
“Mark Henry leaving AEW isn’t a surprise. He came to work behind the scenes & be a commentator for Rampage. Also wanted an in-ring return if the chance arose. Jericho took his spot & eventually reduced to a soundbite. Plus he wasn’t afraid to voice his opinions on company matters.”
To which Henry responded saying that the fan’s theory is wrong and is not worth explaining. However corrected the fans’ theory on X saying,
“You confuse critiquing with trashing because you don’t know what you’re talking about just because you watch something doesn’t mean you know it. I’ve seen surgeries but I can’t do it.”
