Four major feuds teased on WWE SmackDown after SummerSlam 2026

SmackDown post-SummerSlam emanated from Philadelphia.

In the aftermath of SummerSlam, WWE delivered the fallout edition of SmackDown on August 7. The show emanated live from the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and featured multiple returns, including from stars who were absent from programming due to lack of creative.

These stars not only made emphatic returns to WWE programming but also kicked off new storylines following the PLE. Here, we take a look at the top four stars who made their presence felt and set the stage for what could be major feuds moving forward.

4. Baron Corbin vs Carmelo Hayes

Following his successful title defense against Trick Williams, United States Champion Trick Williams was interviewed backstage by Cathy Kelley. Carmelo Hayes attacked Corbin during the segment.

Hayes then informed Corbin that he has met with Nick Aldis and he’s got a title match for his hometown next week. Corbin, in his WWE return, interfered in the US title match between Williams and Hayes, and this might be the payoff for it. Additionally, WWE might decide to make it a three-way feud also involving Williams.

3. Rey Fenix vs Ricky Saints

In a digital exclusive released by WWE after SmackDown, Cathy Kelley interviewed AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix following the announcement to decide Roman Reigns’ title challenger for Raw in Mexico City.

Fenix, who is part of the tournament, was reacting to the news when Ricky Saints arrived, stating that Fenix should be focused on his title and someone like him could come in and take that title away from him. Fenix challenged Saints to try his luck, and Saints said that he would see Fenix around. This tease has left many fans believing that a major showdown between the two is in the works.

2. Shinsuke Nakamura vs The Tongans

During the show, in a video promo, Shinsuke Nakamura reminded the Tongans (Haku, Talla & Tama Tonga) that the King of Strong Style is back, and that this time he would not be fighting alone. Nakamura declared that he was starting a war and would no longer be a one-man army.

Fans have already started speculating on who Nakamura could team up with to take on The Tongans, with potential tag teams involving Finn Balor and other stars being discussed online.

1. Chelsea Green vs Nia Jax

Following Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton’s loss in the Women’s Tag Team title match, The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) attacked Tiffany and Green. Nia then brought in Green’s Interim WWE Women’s title and posed with it to end the sequence.

The attack has made Nia’s intentions clear, as she appears to be targeting the Women’s Championship once again. The angle has firmly positioned Nia as a threat to the title, and the promotion might opt to book the match for the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event.
