Cody Rhodes vs Jey Uso; Jade Cargill & co. secure another win & other spoilers for WWE SmackDown (July 3, 2026)

This article contains SPOILERS for tonight’s SmackDown.
In the backdrop of the events that transpired at Night of Champions, WWE delivers the July 3 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Multiple big names, including Cody Rhodes, Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, Rey Fenix, Jey Uso, El Hijo Del Vikingo, Jade Cargill, and B-Fab, among others, are set to compete on the show.
Tonight’s show will mark SmackDown’s return to the two-hour format after it initially shifted to the three-hour format in January.
Notably, WWE pre-taped tonight’s show in advance on Monday after Raw in Atlantic City, which means the spoilers for the show are out, and we will take a look at five such top spoilers and how they will affect the storylines on the Blue brand.
5. Lainey Reid pins Brie Bella

As the spoilers are out, we now know that Fatal Influence’s Lainey Reid defeated Brie Bella in singles action. The win came after Brie was distracted by the rest of Fatal Influence attacking Paige ringside.
Nevertheless, the win has once again put the faction into title contention. The attack that started it all made their title intentions very clear, and with a win over Brie, the faction will likely demand a shot at the Women’s Tag Team titles.

4. The attack on Finn Balor

A segment featuring Cody Rhodes and Finn Balor sees Balor tell Rhodes that he came to SmackDown to face him for the title, urging him to go win it again. The exchange is then interrupted as Talla Tonga and Tama Tonga attack Balor.
While some fans saw the backstage moment last week as a tease for a Bullet Club reunion, the attack likely means Balor feuding with the Tongas on the Blue brand. It is still unclear if Solo Sikoa is going to pursue the two to return to the MFT faction or punish them for leaving.
3. Jade Cargill & co. win a six-woman tag match

As announced, Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton will team up with Charlotte Flair and Chelsea Green to take on the trio Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab in a six-woman tag team match. Per the spoilers, Jade and Co. will secure the win over the babyface trio.
Reports have confirmed that WWE is planning for a showdown between Flair and Cargill, and this match will likely be used to further the feud. That said, Stratton needs storylines involving the US title, which has once again become an afterthought after the first PLE feature.
2. Blake Monroe attacks again

After weeks of teases, Blake Monroe finally stepped inside the squared circle, attacking Giulia on last week’s SmackDown in London. Monroe’s assault continues tonight, as The Glamour sets her sights on both Giulia and Kiana James.
Despite Monroe calling out stars like Rhea Ripley, Tiffany Stratton, and even Charlotte Flair, Monroe has entered into a program with Giulia, who herself recently had a fallout with Kiana. The addition of Monroe might make things confusing for fans if not done right.
1. Cody Rhodes secures a rematch against Sami Zayn

The newly crowned Undisputed Champion Sami Zayn will kick off the broadcast tonight. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso will interrupt the segment to demand a title shot, leading to a number one contender’s match for the title in the main event, where Rhodes pinned Jey to secure the rematch, which is set for next week’s Monday Night Raw.
With reports of CM Punk‘s return next week on Raw, it remains to be seen whether that will influence the outcome, especially since Punk is reportedly set to feud with Cody Rhodes.
If Rhodes fails to regain the Undisputed Championship, WWE would be unlikely to move forward with that program between the two. At the same time, having Sami Zayn lose the title just two weeks after finally capturing his first world championship following such a long journey could undermine the significance of his long-awaited victory.
