A closer look at the superstars who defined WWE in 2025.
2025 became the year that included the transition of Monday Night Raw from cable TV to Netflix, as well as the new home for WWE PLEs on ESPN. The promotion also introduced two new PLEs, namely, Wrestlepalooza and Clash in Paris.
The year featured a mix of breakout performers and established names who further cemented their status as the company’s leading figures. At the same time, a new generation of WWE superstars continued to rise, enjoying some of the most successful runs of their careers.
From historic achievements and unforgettable matches to major leaps up the hierarchy, several stars made a lasting impact and defined the year. As WWE closes out 2025, here are the top 10 WWE male wrestlers of 2025.
Honourable Mention: Bronson Reed

After his injury at Survivor Series 2024, Bronson Reed made his return in May at SNME to join The Vision faction. Since then, he has been part of multiple major storylines and has a win over Roman Reigns in his hometurf at Crown Jewel. Reed was also part of the winning team in this year’s WarGames, avenging last year’s defeat.
10. Oba Femi

Oba Femi kicked off 2025 by capturing the NXT title in a triple-threat match. He then went on to defend the title ten times before dropping it against Ricky Saints, ending his first reign at 263 days. However, Femi bounced back in his return at NXT Deadline, where he defeated Saints to recapture the title and kick off his second reign.
Femi most recently faced Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he showcased his immense strength and dominance, overpowering and manhandling the reigning Undisputed Champion.

9. LA Knight

One of the most over superstar among fans was undoubtedly LA Knight, who was part of a major storyline against Seth Rollins and later with the Vision. While his second United States title reign only lasted 43 days, Knight was still involved in major matches this year.
The only problem with Knight is his lack of achievement this year, which was the hesitancy of WWE brass in pushing him. Originally reported to be part of the WarGames match, Knight was nowhere to be seen in the build.
8. Jey Uso

‘Main Event’ Jey Uso kicked off 2025 with a win in the men’s Royal Rumble match, eliminating John Cena to bag the prize. He then went on to put Gunther to sleep and capture the World Heavyweight title, his first World title. However, Jey was also on the receiving end of massive backlash from fans online, and after losing the title in a rematch two months later, Jey failed to get another massive win.
His defeat in the tournament to decide John Cena’s final opponent was a tipping point for Jey, who crashed out after the loss. However, as 2025 comes to a close, Jey has reunited with Jimmy Uso, and the two are set to compete for the World Tag titles and might close out the year with the tag titles.
7. Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker’s second Intercontinental title reign came to an end at WrestleMania 41 at 181 days. However, Breakker’s momentum showed no signs of stopping as he joined the Vision faction. Under Paul Heyman’s vision, Breakker turned into a dominant force not just inside the ring, but has also shown immense improvement on the mic.
Breakker also took charge, turning on Seth Rollins, removing him from the faction to emerge as it’s defacto leader. WWE has massive plans for Breakker as he not only pinned the reigning World Champion CM Punk, but is also set to battle him for the title at the first Raw of 2026.
6. Dominik Mysterio

‘Dirty Dom’ Dominik Mysterio continued his rise, emerging as one of WWE’s hottest prospects while drawing strong fan reactions despite his heel persona. Mysterio, capturing the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania, received one of the loudest pops. His first IC title reign lasted 204 days, when he suffered defeat against John Cena in November.
However, Mysterio regained the title, defeating the G.O.A.T in his final PLE appearance at Survivor Series. Dirty Dom currently holds not only the IC title but also the AAA Mega title and is on the path to becoming a major player in pro-wrestling.
5. Cody Rhodes

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes remained at the top of the SmackDown roster. While he did drop the Undisputed title against John Cena at WrestleMania, ending his first reign at 378 days, Rhodes bounced back, re-capturing the title in the rematch at SummerSlam.
However, many of the storylines Rhodes was involved in failed to create an impact; the blame obviously is on WWE creative. Rhodes also failed to defend the men’s Crown Jewel title, losing to Seth Rollins at the namesake PLE, which ultimately hurts his yearly ranking.

4. Gunther

‘The Ring General’ Gunther‘s dominant 259-day World Heavyweight title reign came to an end against Jey Uso at WrestleMania. The Ring General bounced back in the rematch against Jey before dropping the title at the hands of CM Punk.
However, Gunther truly became on the top heels in the promotion right now. He not only put Goldberg to sleep in his retirement match, but truly became someone the fans despise when he forced John Cena to tap out in his final match. Since then, fans have responded strongly to his presence, reactions he has embraced with a loud laugh.
3. CM Punk

‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk realised his career-long dream of main-eventing WrestleMania when he battled Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in a triple-threat match. His ongoing feud with Rollins was the defining feature of this year. Punk managed to defeat Gunther to capture the World Heavyweight title after 12 years.
However, Rollins pulled the heist of the century, making his return to cash in the MITB contract and end Punk’s title reign just as the celebration began. Punk managed to bounce back and, after Rollins’ injury, captured the World title. He is now set to defend it against Rollins’ former stablemate on January 5.
2. Seth Rollins

‘The Visionary’ Seth Rollins joined the dark side at WrestleMania 41 when he turned heel, joining forces with Paul Heyman to create the Vision faction. The faction helped him capture the men’s Money in the Bank briefcase, which, as mentioned, he used to great effect, capturing the World title.
Rollins also defeated Cody Rhodes for the first time in head-to-head clashes to capture the men’s Crown Jewel title. While Rollins’ momentum was cut short due to the injury in the aforementioned match, he still has an amazing year, reminding everyone of his abilities and incredible work ethic.

1. John Cena

The 17-time WWE World Champion, John Cena, wrestled for the final time at the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The farewell show was the culmination of Cena’s iconic career that spanned over two decades.
The tour, which kicked off in Janaury saw Cena break the tie with Ric Flair and become the one and only 17-time World Champion, capturing the IC title to become a Grand Slam Champion in WWE, and walk down memory lane as he battled some of his greatest rivals.
Although this will be the final time Cena appears on such a list, and despite some questionable booking decisions by WWE during his farewell tour, he still gave everything he had and made sure the fans were treated to memorable moments whenever he stepped into the ring.
