Roman Reigns is one of the greatest professional wrestlers on the active WWE roster

Roman Reigns is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of the modern era, who is having a legendary run with WWE. He has been in WWE since 2012 and has been one of the biggest and most successful stars in the company. Roman has been dominating the industry for the past four years and reached heights that one could only dream of.

At this stage, PWInsider released the PWI 500 list featuring the top 500 wrestlers all around the world, Roman topped the list almost for six years, so where was Roman Reigns ranked on the PWI500 list this year?

Unfortunately, Roman Reigns didn’t get featured in the PWI 500 list of top 500 singles wrestlers of 2024. It is important to note that Roman Reigns was ranked #1 on the list from 2016 to 2022. He was moved to the #2 spot last year. However, Roman being removed from the list shocked several WWE fans.

As most of them wondered why, Kevin McElvaney of PWInsider explained X/Twitter. Kevin explained that Roman only had five singles matches in the evaluation period. As the minimum eligibility to feature in the list is ten matches or six during six different months, Roman did not get into the list. He compared the situation with Brock Lesnar in previous years, who also didn’t get featured in the list.

Kevin McElvaney of PWInsider said,

“He [Roman Reigns] put us into an awkward spot, as he only had five singles matches during the evaluation period (the minimum is 10, or six during six separate months). Brock Lesnar had a similar deal years ago and didn’t make it. I’m sure people will be normal about this,”

He further explained that the list got released was for the active wrestlers and what they accomplished in the ring. He said that if a list of the biggest stars had been released, Roman would have likely topped the list for four years, but not in the PWI500 list.

McElvaney continued by saying,

“At the end of the day, our list is for active wrestlers and based on what is accomplished in the ring. We could do a list that’s just ‘biggest stars’ and Roman would have likely topped it the last four years. But it just wouldn’t be the “500” if it was only that.”

Cody Rhodes topped the list at #1, followed by Swerve Strickland (#2), Will Ospreay (#4) and last year’s topper Seth Rollins. What are your thoughts on the PWI500 list? Share with us in the comments section below.
