WWE RAW Results, Highlights & Winners (May 20, 2024): Gunther & Lyra Valkyria advance to the King and Queen of the Ring Finals

Gunther & Valkyria advances, Awesome Truth retains, Chad Gable defeats Sami Zayn, Bron Breakker assaults & much more!!!
The May 20, 2024 episode of Monday Night Raw is officially over and it is one of the much watch episodes of recent times. This is the final episode of Raw, before the 2024 King and Queen of the Ring PLE. WWE has showcased some of the interesting matches and segments for the show, setting the final hype for the PLE. Get to know what happened on this week’s Raw, as we came out with the complete summary, highlights, results, winners list and grades.
WWE Raw Summary & Highlights
Sami Zayn Promo
Sami Zayn kicked-off Monday Night Raw, he went on to cut promo against his opponents for Saturday, Chad Gable & Bronson Reed. Sami said that he has two issues to handle at the same time, where his issues with Chad Gable is personal & the issue is Bronson Reed is for the title. He claimed that the match is full of money, body and soul. Sami Zayn believs that he would be walking out of the King and Queen of the Ring still being the champion.
Chad Gable interrupted Sami and said that he is not manipulative, but was too nice to Sami Zaun and “the clowns” of Alpha Academy. He blamed all the members of Alpha Academy. Sami Zayn asked the other members of the Academy, how longer they gonna handle this scrap. Gable says that they are engaged to him. Gable claimed that he will take Sami’s soul and take the title from him. Sami called for a fight and it happened immediately following the promo.
Sami Zayn vs Chad Gable
Sami Zayn was fired from as soon as the match began and sent Gable out of the ring. Alpha Academy helped him stand, but Gable yelled them saying, he can handle this. Gable took control of the match, during the commercial and managed to delivered Zayn with a German Suplex. He tried to choke Sami on the ropes and asked Maxxine to slap him. Maxxine hesitated and Gable yelled her. Gable asked Tozawa to hit Sami, but Tozawa also hesitated. Gable asked both to leave from the ringside. However Sami hit him with a Blue Thunder Bomb, using the distraction.
After the commercial, Gable delivered a couple of German Suplex and Sami countered him with another couple of suplex. Sami hit a powerslam and went on to deliver a Helluva Kick, but Gable caught him with an Ankle lock. Gable sent Sami out of the ring and asked Otis to attack him, Otis hesitated and got slapped by Gable.
Gable took the title title to the ring to attack Sami. But Sami hit him with a Exploder Suplex, and went for the Helluva Kick. Otis now hit him with a vicious clothesline and helped Gable to deliver the German Suplex with the bridge to win the match.
Backstage- Chad Gable Interview & LWO attack
Chad Gable was asked about his victory with the help of Otis. A scream was heard backstage. Del Toro is hurt, Rey claims that it is Carlito. Adam Pearce and officials called the medical team.

Bron Breakker vs Kale Dixon
The match began with Bron Breakker murmuring that he was not in King of the Ring Tournament. He shows his Frustration with a spear, breaking his opponent in half. He threw Dexon out and hit another spear with a long run. Back in the ring, the referee stopped the match and announced Breakker as the winner. Breakker however speared him with a high pace. He took Dexon out, locked his opponent head on the steel steps and smashed his head with a steel chair.
In the backstage, the rookie was taken to the hospital. Adam Pearce called Bron Breakker and asked what he think, he is. Breakker says that he didn’t put him on the King of the Ring Tournement and he did it as a fallout of it. Breakker claims the he can’t be controlled, making a statement.
Queen of the Ring Semifinals- Lyra Valkyria vs IYO SKY
The match began with both showcasing their skills and countering each others moves. However, after the commercial, IYO SKY took control of the match. SKY hit a swining knee strike on the corner and hit a backbreaker to the knee and locks her with a submission maneuver.
Lyra Valkyria delivered a German Suplex and tries to take control with a series of clothesline and step up enzigiri. Valkyria hit a slide kick and hit a Crossbody from the top rope. Sky counter’s Lyra’s finisher and hit a metiora. Lyra locked SKY with an innovate submission maneuver. SKY fights back with a springboard missile drop kick. SKY then hit a Springboard moonsault out of the ring.
Back in the ring, Valkyria hit a Tornado DDT and a Slam. SKY countered Valkyira’s finisher and hit a metiora. Both went for the top rope, where SKY hit a Sunset Flip Powerbomb & climbed the ropes again, but Valkyria escaped and rolled her down to advance to win and enters the Queen of the Ring finals.
Backstage Interview- Ilja Dragunov
Ilja Dragunov addresses his loss to Jey Uso last week and he says that it is okay to lose to Jey Uso. He addresses Gunther breaking him a number of times. Ricochet came to confront him hinting a feud, however Bron Breakker speared Ricochet to the boxes.
Backstage- The Judgment Day
Damian Priest wished Balor and McDonagh good luck to bring the tag titles to the Judgment Day. He asked Carlito about the attack on LWO. Carlito says that before they chase him down, he looks to strike first. He says that he got backup from Judgment Day. Priest says that they are not his APA. He asked to handle his own business. Finn wished Priest was with him for the match, but anyway went to handle business and Dom accompanied them.
Backstage- Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark met Sonya Deville
Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark met returning Sonya Deville. She asks whether they jave time for her, Zoey said yes, but Shayna said they don’t and walked away from her.
World Tag Team Championship Match- The Judgment Day vs Awesome Truth
Finn Balor and The Miz started the match with Balor taking Miz to their corner and tahhed JD in. Miz fights back and tagged Truth in. Awesome Truth has back to back tag-ins, where Miz hit McDonagh with his signature clothesline and hit a big boot on Balor. No sooner, Judgment Day took control with blind attack on Miz.
Miz hot tagged Truth and JD tagged Finn. Truth was fired up with Shoulder tackle and looks for Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Balor escapes. Truth locks him with STF and JD breaks it. Miz and Truth hit a 5 Knuckle shuffle. Carlito ran to distract them, but Miz sent him down. Truth hit a Flatliner on JD, but Carlito kept kept his leg on the ropes to break the fall.
Dom distracted the referee and Carlito tried to interfere. But, Braun Strowman came out and took Carlito out. He chased JD, and Truth hit him with an AA to win the match. Awesome Truth retains the tag team titles.
Backstage- Lyra Valkyria, Becky Lynch & Liv Morgan
Becky wished Lyra Valkyria good luck for her finals of the Queen of the Ring. As Becky left, Liv wished her, but striked her on the face in the end.
Backstage- Sami Zayn, Bronson Reed & Otis
Bronson Reed met Sami Zayn and says that he doesn’t need to focus on Chad Gable. He wanted to focus on him, as he gonna have the biggest pay day by winning the title. Otis met Sami and apologized him. Sami asked Otis to stop hearing from Gable and start to hear the crowd.
Liv Morgan confronts Becky Lynch
Becky Lynch addressed her upcoming match with Liv at King and Queen of the Ring PLE. Becky claims that she has a lot of history with Liv, and she never won against her. Becky says that Liv is now totally a new person.Liv Morgan interfered her and said that she need to finish her revenge tour. Becky says that she finally got the purpose. Liv said Becky is selfish.
Liv Morgan said that after she completed her revenge tour, she will finally be on the top of the company, which she deserves. Becky claims thar Liv’s statements are false and she called for a fight. Liv Morgan retreated and saved her fight for Saturday.
Backstage- New Day & Karrion Kross
Xavier Woods is cleared to compete. Kofi went to report it to Adam Pearce. Karrion Kross met Woods and said thst there is still time to turn things around.
#1 Contender’s Fatal 4-Way Women’s Tag Team Match
Ivy Nile and Dakota Kai start the match, but everyone got involved, where Katana Chance and Kayden Carter stood tall before the commercial. After the commercial, Ivy Nile hit a suplex on Kairi Sane. Maxxine got tagged in and she hit a vertical suplex.
Katana Chance got tagged in and they cleared the house. They hit their finisher, but Dakota Kai blind tagged herself in. Maxxine hit Kai with a Caterpillar and locks her with the Ankle lock. Kair got the tah and she hit an Insane Elbow. Bazler locked Kairi with the Kirifuda Clutch. Zoey tags in and they took Maxxine with their finisher to won the match.
Backstage
Ludwig Kaiser addressed Gunther’s upcoming match in the King and Quen of the Ring Tournament. Kaiser also cuts a promo ahgainst Sheamus.
Drew McIntyre addresses Jey Uso’s semifinals match, which should jave beem his placs. He rhan spoke about Damian Priest, who he claims to be the Paper Champion. Drew looks for a future title shot against him, once he’s cleared. He wanted Priest to focus on him.
Chad Gable was discussing with Creed Brothers and Otis came to see him. He asked where he has been and Otis says he went on to apologize Sami Zayn. Gable thought that it is to emotionally break him. Gable wanted Otis to come to Saudi Arabia and asked him to assist him just like today to win the Intercontinental Championship.
King of the Ring Semifinals- Gunther vs Jey Uso
Gunther landed chops on Jey Uso & Jey hit Yeet punches. Gunther sneaked out and Jey hit a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Gunther sent Jey to the ringpost and started targetting his right arm. Gunther blew his hand on the ring post, steel steps and to the barricade.
Gunther went for the top rope and Jey looking to stop him. Gunther locks Kimura on the top rope, but Jey countered it with a Samoan Drop from the top rope. Jey hit a crossbody from the top rope, but Gunthers kicks out. Gunther hit a series of vicious chops and Jey hit a step up enzigiri. Gunther looks for a clothesline, but Jey hit him with a super-kick.
Jey hit another superkick and stomped him in the corner. Gunther hit a drop kick, a powerbomb and followed it with arm lock. Jey looks to spear, but Gunther locka him with the sleeper holds. Gunther hit a splash feom the top rope and followed it with a clothesline, but not enough to put Jey down. Gunther chopped Jey in half, Jey slaps Gunther and get vicious chops in return.
Jey speared Gunther, but the mix took referee down. Jey hit The Uso Splash, but the hurt referee slowed-down the fall. Gunther chopped Jey and locked him with a sleeper-hold to make him fade blue. Gunther wins by submission and advances to the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament.

- Lyra Valkyria defeated IYO SKY by pinfall to advance for the Queen of the Ring Finals.

- Gunther defeated Jey Uso by technical submission to advance for the King of the Ring Finals.
