Some WWE superstars had their careers cut short right after a match.

The dream of multiple wrestling aspirants in the hardcore business is to compete for the global giant in the land, WWE. Over the years, many people have achieved and held on to that dream, carving out illustrious careers in the company.

On the other hand, there have been a handful of superstars who did make it to the dreamland but got their termination papers handed to them right after competing in the ring. Here are the top five WWE superstars who were fired immediately after a match:

4. Buff Bagwell

Buff Bagwell was scheduled to battle the 5-time WCW Champion Booker T in a match in 2001. However, right before he went out to compete, he was confronted by Shane Helms. A brief verbal back and forth led to Helms calling Bagwell a drug addict.

This led to Buff slapping Helms and The former Hurricane hit him with a frozen water bottle requiring 25 stitches to close his wound. Although he did go on to compete against Booker T that night, he was fired the next week by Vince McMahon citing his attitude, altercation with Shane Helms and lackluster match with Booker T.

3. Abraham Washington

Abraham Washington was signed to WWE’s former developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling in 2009. He served as a talk show host and later became the GM of the show. But during one appearance on the commentary desk for a match, he made some remarks toward the late NBA star Kobe Bryant and the sexual allegation charges against him in 2003. This led to WWE taking immediate action and Washington was let go from the promotion some 11 days later.

2. Eugene

Eugene was the dyslexic child-like character portrayed by Nick Dinsmore who gained moderate popularity among the WWE Universe in the mid-2000s. However, he was immediately let go from the company after a match with The Miz under his Calagary Kid gimmick in 2009 during his second run. The decision came from the boss, who reportedly was not a fan of Eugene’s physical appearance and overall character, leading to his decision.

1. Arn Anderson

WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson is one of the most respected veterans and captivating stars in the history of professional wrestling and served as a cornerstone for WWE for years. However, after a long association with the global juggernaut, his tenure with WWE came to an end in 2019. A wrong decision to let an intoxicated Alicia Fox compete in a match led to Anderson being fired from the company within days.
