AEW could be the fresh direction that Ricochet needs, with some spectacular dream matches waiting for him.

WWE’s resident superhero, Ricochet, is rumored to be leaving the company after a recent report suggested that he had handed his notice to them for the same and would not be renewing his contract. Moreover, this became evident after Ricochet was written off WWE TV on the latest episode of RAW this week following a vicious beatdown by Bron Breakker.

With the next best option being AEW for Ricochet, there is an array of top-tier stars who could deliver a spectacular showdown with The One and Only. Should he decide to join the company, here are the five dream opponents for Ricochet in AEW:

5. Rey Fenix

Much like Ricochet, Rey Fenix is credited as one of the most talented high-flyers in AEW, and he is known for his exceptional in-ring prowess and skill. While Ricochet has battled high-flying stars in the past, a match against a renowned luchador in Rey Fenix could easily be speculated as a sight of fast-paced and enthralling action delivered as a dream showdown for AEW.

4. Kazuchika Okada

Kazuchika Okada was the face of NJPW in the heavyweight class throughout the 2010s, while Ricochet competed in the junior division at the time. Being a part of different weight classes, their paths never crossed in singles action, except for some trios matches in 2015.

However, with Okada now a prime fixture for AEW, the company could play host to this first-ever showdown and bring together the two most dynamic performers in wrestling for a dance.

3. Chris Jericho

The Learning Tree of AEW, Chris Jericho, is known to hang with the best competition offered around professional wrestling. While he and Ricochet did not have much interaction during their time in WWE, AEW could be the sight for their heated rivalry.

A feud with a veteran like Chris Jericho alongside a string of matches, much like he is doing for HOOK, could elevate Ricochet in the company.

2. Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland has been AEW’s flag-bearer for several months, reigning as the AEW World Champion. While Ricochet would need to secure a series of victories to earn a shot at his title should he choose to come to AEW, a clash between these two talented, high-flying stars is highly anticipated.

Moreover, Strickland and Ricochet faced each other twice in singles matches in 2017, which were some of the most exceptional bouts ever since. However, both in-ring competitors have evolved significantly since then, with their renewed rivalry being an exciting sight to witness in AEW.

1. Will Ospreay

There could be one argument made regarding Ricochet’s motive to leave WWE, which could be his desire to rekindle rivalry with the Aerial Assassin, Will Ospreay. The duo faced each other in the mid-2010s and delivered some critically acclaimed matches, showcasing an innovative acrobatic style that set them apart in the wrestling world.

Fast forward seven years later, and both Ricochet and Will Ospreay have evolved as performers. Therefore, a rematch in today’s era could be one of the most enthralling and highly anticipated dream showdowns for Ricochet as a performer and AEW as a company.
