Archery World Cup Stage 3: Indian men, women compound team bag bronze medal

Third successive medal for Jyothi Surekha Vennam across all World Cup stages
India's men's and women's compound archery team bagged bronze medals in the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Medellin, Colombia. After a good start in the opening day, the Indian team continued the fine form reaching the semi-finals in respective team events. Both teams lost the semi-final in the shoot offs after levelling scores.
The men's team consisting of Abhishek Verma, Ojas Deotale and Prathamesh Jawkar were seeded second and had a smooth sailing till the semis. Against Mexico, the Indian team was lagging by two point after series 2 and 3 but made a strong comeback in the last to level the scores. But the third seed Mexico stood firm and progressed to the final scoring 29; two ahead in the shoot offs.
Meanwhile the top seeded India women's team was seeded first and were the favourites to win gold. Like the men's team, they too suffered a semi-final loss to fourth seed USA (28-29) after scoring (232-232) at the end of four series. Nevertheless the side came back strong in a few minutes and beat Mexico (29-29) in shoot offs. Although the scores were tied, the Indian team had one arrow closer to the center (X) which helped them sail through.
