Asian Games 2026: India's updated schedule for Day 5 (September 24)
Athletics, canoe sprint, rowing and shooting offer medal opportunities
The action at the Asian Games 2026 is set to intensify as the continental showpiece enters Day 5 in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday, September 24. India will be in action across several sporting disciplines and will look to build on a productive Day 4, which saw the contingent add four more medals to its tally.
India have now secured 11 medals at the Games, with shooting emerging as the standout contributor. The discipline has accounted for seven medals so far — four silver and three bronze — while cricket, weightlifting, mixed martial arts (MMA) and soft tennis have contributed a medal each.

India’s women’s cricket team successfully defended its Asian Games title on Day 3, defeating Sri Lanka by a commanding 114-run margin in the final. On Wednesday, shooting added two more medals, with India claiming bronze in both the men’s and women’s skeet team events.
Jay Meena also created history by winning India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in soft tennis, securing bronze. Meanwhile, star weightlifter Mirabai Chanu finally opened her Asian Games medal account, claiming silver in the women’s 49kg category.
Looking ahead to Day 5, athletics, canoe sprint, rowing and shooting will be among the key sports to watch, with medal opportunities on offer across the disciplines. Indian athletes will also be in action in swimming, boxing, e-sports, hockey, kabaddi, squash and table tennis, among others.
