India added five medals to its tally on Day 5
India continued its medal run at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, adding five more medals on Thursday, September 24.
Roshibina Devi won silver in the women’s 60kg Sanda event, while Satnam Singh and Salman Khan secured bronze in men’s double sculls. India also added a bronze in mixed team skeet through Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal.
Athletics brought two more medals later in the day. Seema won bronze in the women’s 10,000m, while the Indian mixed 4x400m relay team finished second to claim silver.

India’s medal tally now stands at 17 medals—one gold, seven silvers and nine bronzes. The women’s cricket team remains India’s only gold medalist so far.

India’s first medal came in rowing, where Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze in the men’s double sculls with a time of 6:13.25. Balraj Panwar finished fourth in the men’s single sculls, while India’s lightweight men’s double sculls pair also finished fourth.
Roshibina Devi added silver in the women’s 60kg Sanda after losing 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final. It was her third successive Asian Games medal, following bronze at Jakarta 2018 and silver at Hangzhou 2022. She became the first Indian woman to win medals at three consecutive editions of the Asian Games in wushu.

Shooting had a mixed outing for India. The men’s 10m air pistol team of Kamaljeet, Aakash Bharadwaj and Kedarling Uchaganve finished fourth, with none progressing to the individual final.
India returned to the podium in skeet mixed team event, where Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal won bronze.
Athletics then produced two more medals. Seema clocked 32:50.05 to win bronze in the women’s 10,000m, ending India’s 16-year wait for a medal in the event. The mixed 4x400m relay team followed with silver in 3:14.46. Bahrain won gold in a Games Record of 3:12.87, while Vietnam took bronze.
Asha Ilango narrowly missed another athletics medal in the women’s triple jump. She recorded 13.83m, the same distance as China’s Li Yi, but finished fourth after Li won bronze on countback.
In the men’s 100m, Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh qualified for the semi-finals, clocking 10.36s and 10.38s respectively.
India’s kabaddi teams also made progress. The men’s team defeated Chinese Taipei 37-21, while the women’s team beat Japan 50-25. Both teams have now assured themselves of at least a bronze medal.
The Indian men’s hockey team maintained its unbeaten run with an 8-2 win over South Korea in Pool A, registering its third consecutive victory.
In squash, Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna, Abhay Singh and Veer Chotrani progressed to the singles quarter-finals.
India’s table tennis players also advanced in women’s doubles, while Manush Shah won his men’s singles opener 4-0.

In boxing, Parveen Hooda advanced via walkover, while Sakshi Chaudhary and Sumit Kundu’s campaign ended.
Elsewhere, Pranati Nayak finished sixth in the women’s vault final, while India’s men’s 4x100m freestyle relay team finished 12th and missed the final.
Asian Games 2026: Updated Indian medal tally after 24th September
India’s medal tally stands at 17 medals, comprising one gold, seven silver and nine bronze medals, leaving them placed 15th in the overall medal standings.
The women’s cricket team has won India’s only gold medal so far. Shooting has contributed eight medals, while the remaining medals have come from cricket, weightlifting, MMA, soft tennis, badminton, wushu, rowing and athletics.

What to expect from the Indian contingent on 25th September?
India will have several medal opportunities on Day 6, with athletics, shooting, weightlifting and kabaddi among the key sports.
In athletics, Gulveer Singh will compete in the men’s 10,000m final. Manpreet Kaur and Krishna Jayasankar will feature in the women’s shot put final, while Sindhushree Ganesha and Baranica Elangovan will contest the women’s pole vault final.
Damneet Singh and Praveen Kumar will compete in the men’s hammer throw final.
The men’s 100m semi-finals will also take place, with Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh in contention. The heptathlon will conclude with the long jump, javelin throw and 800m for Anamika and Pooja.

Shooting will provide medal opportunities in the 10m air pistol mixed team event and men’s 50m rifle 3P. Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh will represent India in the mixed team air pistol event.
Weightlifting will see Nirupama Devi compete in the women’s 61kg event, while both Indian kabaddi teams will play their semi-finals. Badminton’s individual events will also begin on September 25, with singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions getting underway.
India will therefore have several opportunities to add to its 17 medal tally as the Asian Games enter their sixth day.
